I was thinking hard at work tonight, and wondering if I'm alone in wanting a King written story that has more details on the Old People, like how they died out, how they lived, and how they created all the machines and robots and such.

For me, this would be interesting, but I'm unsure if I'm alone or not?

Sounds good to me . . .

i am not 100% on this, but i THINK that the Old People are us, or people much like we are now. and i believe that they killed themselves with weapons such as nukes (hence the Blasted Lands and all the deformities) but i would definetely love to read more about that, i have always wanted to know the whole story

Hi,

Stranger had it about right.

The Old People tried to replace The Dark Tower with something in their own image, but cracks opened up in the ground and sprayed a mist into the air that was filled with monsters which ate those near to The Dark Tower up.

My guess is that these monsters (Lobstrosities, anyone?) threatened All-World and The Old People tried to kill them and bring down The Dark Tower once and for all - The Crimson King was definitely behind this - with nuclear bombs but ended up wiping each other out in the process.

Kind of like The Stand, but instead of Captain Trips All-World got monsters and nukes. In the aftermath, some people began civilization over and blah blah blah... Roland eventually was born and our story ensued.

I love legends within legends, so I would definitely read this book, if it'll ever get written. Years before the recent terminator came out that lost world of the future had more fascination to me than most of the events in the films.

Mr. King being the type of writer he is, and considering the web of tales that came together to create his world of interwoven stories, I believe that with time enough he well tell us this story as well.

A mist filled with monsters, eh? :wink2:

Hopefully, SK will get around to completing the whole thing...and if he doesn't, maybe he'll leave enough notes so Joe or Owen (or both) could finish the final leg.
