Although the unabridged/uncut version has a few ink drawings of the cast, I still have my own interior eye on how the characters look. Anyone else do this?
Anyway, here's how I picture a few:
Stuart: Josh Holloway - Sawyer from Lost http://www.lost-tv.co.uk/images/uploaded/cast_9A.jpg
Larry: Dean Friedman, singer http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/512h%2BNvN%2BCL._SL500_AA280_.jpg
Harold: Jorge Garcia - Hurley from Lost http://z.about.com/d/lost/1/0/K/6/-/-/Jorge-Garcia-as-Hurley-3-Bo.jpg
Judge Farris: Character actor, Fred Gwynne http://www.nndb.com/people/639/000043510/fg3-sized.jpg
Any more?

I have always pictured Stuart as Gary Sinise and Nick Andros as Rob Lowe.
However I do not picture Frannie as Molly Ringwald. In my mind Frannie is suppose to be pretty.
Also I don't really know how I picture Larry, it is almost like the guy that played Larry in the miniseries, but younger.
Once you watch the miniseries I find it a little hard not to imagine the characters in my head the same as actors.

i have always pictured Stu, Nick, Mother Abagail, Harold, Larry and Nadine just as they were in the mini series, those faces just seemed to stick. Frannie on the other hand, i guess i alter Molly Ringwalds appearance in my own head just enough to make it fit.
Kinda Off Topic, but one thing about that mini series that really bugged me, they made a big deal about Frannie's baby being sick at the end but they never really elaborated during the whole show about how the baby is NOT Stu's.....that has always bugged me because someone who has never read it wouldn't really understand that whole situation. :glare:

I don't think I've seen the mini-series, which is good as I don't have actors in my head. That took some of the fun out of going back and reading 'IT' for me - I could never take Richie seriously after that; the actor reminded me of cheesy British DJ Steve Wright. :D

I read it long before the miniseries, so I don't picture any of the characters as looking like the actors. The closest, for me, are Stu and Larry. The ones who I never pictured anything like the chosen actors are Frannie, Nick, and Harold. Really, there are no overweight teenage boys who can act? Nick would've automatically been treated better in life if he looked like Rob Lowe. I won't even go there about Molly Ringwald ;)

Did you swap these characters' ages on purpose? :)

No. Jake Gyllenhaal is/looks older than Julia Stiles, and Nick's character doesn't necessarily need to be young. Just really, really hot, since there are references in the book to women practically crawling all over him, least of which is Julie the Slut. I think Depp fits the hottie requirement, he looks like he could be of Greek ancestry, and it would be interesting watching him tackle a part that involves muteness.

Nick is supposed to be 22 years old, as he tells Sheriff Baker (Harcover uncut page 79). Now, a 20-something Johnny Depp, heck yeah!

I try my best not to imagine the characters as the characters of the mini-series because I feel that can detract from the magic of King. He creates characters so real, so tangiable, that I always suggest reading his works BEFORE seeing the movies, because then the beauty of imagination can work its magic and we can meet these characters in our minds, as King himself intended. Paint the pictures in your mind, don't just harvest them from anothers imagination!

I don't imagine them as looking like anyone that I've met or seen IRL. I like it that way. They are my own creations from King's descriptions.'
I avoided the mini-series like the plague because I didn't want my images ruined, as they had been ruined by other book to movies I've seen.
(I did eventually watch parts of Stand and was impressed with how much they went right in line with the book. But it took a while to scrub the characters out of my memory)

I have seen the mini series and although I like Gary Sinese, Rob Lowe and the guy who played Tom - I still keep my own idea of how they should look ... I can close my eyes and see them now.....
Frannie - very pretty with long dark hair, quite slim and tomboyish
Stu - well, just gorgeous really, again dark hair, rugged good looks kind of unshaven
Harrold - Quite tall, pudgy and pale skin, greasy straight hair that keeps falling in his face
Nick - dont know why ... but short, well built, light brown hair, not that good looking with his front teeth all jaggerdy :grinning:
Larry - Blond shoulder length hair, average looking, on the slim side, not very toned.
Nadine - Tall and imposing with long jet black hair, not very feminine, kind of horsey looking.
Trash - Small, weedy, freckly, beady eyes, dirty blonde hair.
Glen - Middle aged, tanned slightly leathery skin, salt & pepper hair, kind of scruffy looking
Tom - Tall, good looking, very stocky build, piercing blue eyes, blonde hair, pale skin.
Randall - Tall, thin, Wiry, quite attractive buy with a mysterious air about him .. one of those guys you fancy but you dont know why....

Yes, but Nick's age isn't relevant to anyone else. No kids, no wife, no history with anyone or anything, so it doesn't really matter at the end of the day what age he is.
