My personal fave is Something To Tide You Over, but I do love Sai King's role as Jordy Verrill. He was brilliant, but there is something about Leslie Nielsen burying people up to the neck that I found to be just a bit more awesome.

My favorite was Lonesome Death of Jordy Verill. But Steves son Joe was also really good in his role as Billy.

Creepshow?
The one with Dr. Challis aka Tom Atkins in it?
Did you know that this DVD is not available in Australia either?
How lame is this country?
I have to do all my DVD shopping from the states.
We don't even have the classic Night of the Creeps for sale in Australia.

Um...okay... :oo: Tom Atkins did play the father for the prologue and epilogue of Creepshow. But I don't think that answers my question. Have you even seen the film? If you have... I was just wondering if you had a favorite segment from the film...
And thank you for sharing that...useful bit of information. I'm sure it will come in handy next time I'm in Australia...

Over the weekend I got a four pack of creepshow, cats eye, Doloras claiborne and Dreamcatcher for fathers day. I watched creepshow fro the 1st time and laughed so hard I alomost cried. The 1st segment was kind of boring and anoying "wheres my cake!" But the rest was really funny. The segment the Tide was really suspenseful and leslie neilson was kind of scary

Ted Danson's first movie role too!
Fathers Day does it for me... like robdraggoo mentioned, "Where's My CAKE???"

My favourite "Creepshow" segment actually comes from the generally far inferiour "Creepshow 2," ie., "The Raft."

My favourite segment of Creepshow is " The Crate" but my favourite part of the film is watching Ed Harris dancing in "Fathers Day". Watched an interview with him on the special edition DVD and he was the first to admit that dancing is not his strong point. Makes me feel slightly better when I do my embarassing Dads dance in front of my daughter!

I concur. Shortly after I watched this, I was sitting in deck chairs with some friends on their (of course) deck at night. This deck was one of those that is very close to the ground; it almost could have been a patio. Anyway, we were talking blah blah teenager stuff, and I saw movement at the bottom edge of my vision. I looked down, and dark gray slugs were seeping (there is no other word for it) up between the boards of the deck. :eek2:
I screamed like a girl.
I can still see the last, horribly unfair shot of that segment.

My favorite is FATHER'S DAY. As I write this, I'm sitting here with my "I Want My Cake!" t-shirt on and the CREEPSHOW soundtrack playing in the background.
This has to be my all-time favorite film.

It's usually a tie between "The Crate" and "Something to Tide You Over", but lately I've really enjoyed E.G. Marshall's performance in "They're Creeping Up On You".

I'm a-gonna say "They're Creeping Up On You." VERY disturbing and gross; classic horror.
However, I'd rather watch "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" than any of the others, because it's hilarious.
Love me some Creepshow.

This is a tough question. I have watched this movie at least a hundred times since I was like 4 years old when it was released.
When I was younger, I was all about Jordy Verrill and the BUGS. Then as I got older, I fell in love with Something to Tide You Over and The Crate. Fast forward to the teenage years and marijuana and booze, and I saw Father's Day and Jordy Verrill in a whole different light(creepy). I never laughed so hard watching Ed Harris' skull get crushed by that gravestone.
Anyway, after it is all said and done, I rate them.....

Speaking of the Ed Harris scene, how exactly did Nathan Gratham pull it over on him? You see him there cackling at Harris, and then BAM! Was Nathan using some supernatural power that we didn't know about?

I think "Fathers' Day" is kinda lame, but all the others are good. I especially like "Tide." When Leslie Nielsen screams "I can hold my breath for a long, long time!," there's just something beautifully psychotic about that. Defiant to the end.

I loved "The Crate", I remember being about 9 years old when Id first saw the movie. I was absolutely terrified, and my dad kept telling me the monster in the crate was "Donkey Kong" in an effort for me to not be as scared. To this day it still disturbs me.

Those precision BITE MARKS from The Crate really stand out in my mind's eye. I was packing up something recently using a industrial tape gun, and I screwed up and gouged my left hand...
A dozen sharp metal teeth peeled back my skin and left the shredded tendrils hanging, like a demented carrot peeler.
It was white inside. It was white. It was white. It hurt, but it was white?
And then it was very red all over the floor.

this one is obvious:
'For god's sake Henry, whatdoya want now?!!'
BAM!
(Henry imagines he just shot Wilma)
'Nothing Wilma, everything is just fine!'
THE COOL, STRANGE, WARPED, ECHOED, GONG-SOUND EFFECT
Everyone surrounding the gruesome scene and begins to applaud...
'Great shot, Henry'
Henry has a shy, aw-shucks expression.
etc.
A great example of morbid humor
But it's that sound effect, you see. Something about that sound effect was perfect.

...also, for a reason I am unclear as to why, the scene in Father's Day where the maid enters the room and says:
"Shall I glaze the ham now, ma'am?"
seems like i shall remember that forever.

I'll go for "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill", because Steve appeared in it, and I thought it was very entertaining. I laughed a lot on that one. Beware of spoilers here. But for the horror part, I think that the segment where Leslie Nielsen gives a shot at burrying some guy in the sand with only his head showing was pretty scary and stressing. I couldn't eat crabs for a while after that

mmm so hard to choose. I watched it again resentingly and it was so much better than I imagined. If i had to go for any it would be the Tide because it good to see Leslie Nielsen get back to some serious acting. Stephen's role also as Jordy, its hard to tell its him, he really should act more often.

That one is my favorite too. I love Leslie Nielsen's acting, he was so funny in the Naked Gun movies with his dead-pan humor. But I had no idea that that same dead-pan attitude could translate so well to horror. He made a truly great sociopath. Not to mention the very thought of being buried up to my neck in sand as the tide comes in makes me want my blanky and my mommy very bad.

For me it was "The Crate". Hal Holbrook was awesome in it! I remember seeing it for the first time (back in the day!) and thinking, "Where's this thing putting all this grub?" He was about three feet tall and ate, what four people in the process of two hours. Guess if you've been boxed up since the 1800's you build up quite an appetite.

Yeah, I get the feeling Ted Danson didn't have to act very much to look scared, particularly that scene where the live crab is inches away from his face!

Something to tide you over with is my favourite, just really fun, evil stuff.
Fathers day was cool despite the 3 minutes ed harris waited for the tombstone to fall on him, come on, wake the heck up buddy!
King's performance was awesome, and I loved the way it ended, very ominous.

The Crate ! Adrienne Barbeau just tears it up as Billy . You can tell all the actors ( and there's a lot of great ones in Creepshow ) are just having a blast on that set. It's obvius Romero encouraged them to ham it up and over-act.

This is by far one of my most favorite memories as a young Child Watching this live action comic book come to life.My favorite segment is "The Crate".
I've been getting a large Creepshow poster signed for decades by the cast and Directors.
The only person that Eludes me is the Great Stephen King himself.
Maybe just maybe someday I'll have him sign the poster and my quest and life will be fulfilled.

My favorite was Something To Tide You Over. I loved the imagery of being buried in the sand, not able to move, and watching your death move a little closer with each wave. That always stuck with me.
I know Leslie Nielson was better known for his comedies, but when he passed last week, this was the first thing that came to mind.

Agree with this. The rest of the film was good but pretty laughable, but that one sequence where he's just helplessly awaiting his death.... brutal.

Love me some Creepshow and I think I even have it in Blu Ray for all of you who are interested in seeing it in its highest quality.
The crate is pretty cool no doubt.
I was always into the scene where the kids are on the raft and they get eaten by the water blob thing a ma bob. I like how the one guy makes it to land and the blob jumps on him on land.

I so want that SHIVERS #6...how much they askin' for that book? And how long it gonna take to get to me?
My fave segment be the Crate, sure, but the scariest for me be Tide, for the very reasons Cat In a Bag just stated above. See, I almost drowned as a young kid, fell to the bottom of a pond and was down there for a LONG time. Should be dead, due to lack of oxygen (must be what's wrong with me brain) and ever since I cannot let my head get under water--freaks me out like mad. I can barely swim, it's so bad--what you'd call a phobia, I reckon. So naturally, watching that TIDE scene in Creepshow always gave me the chuck-horrors...I can watch it now, but could barely stand it as a kid.

Hey All,
I remember Creepshow, actually I don't have a favorite because they were all great; but if I had 2 pick one it would be They're Creeping Up on U, it made me cringe a little, but could U imagine, living like that. I thought Father's Day and Something to Tide U Over were funny. The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill was kinda sad, but SK was great in the part. To me being alone and having no friends is sad and no one should have to experience that. I liked Creepshow, where can U get a Comedy/Horror film in 1, Stephen King delivers as usual:oo:

I am finding it very hard to think of a favourite segment. Everytime I watch it I have a new favourite. Creepshow is a truly great film altogether and I could not imagine it with a single story taken out, However "The Crate" really stands out as one that scared me as a kid, that and the end scene from "They're creeping up on you".
JordyVerrill

I think "The Crate" is the best story, but "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" is my favorite story, if that makes sense. It's been over 25 years since I first saw Creepshow as a little kid, and to this day I still quote Jordy from time to time. Like when I get something nasty on my hands, I often say "Meteor S***".

Creepshow has been one of my favorite Horror films ever since I saw it in theaters back in the early eighties. This is horror at its very BEST!!! Combining Romero and King together with these horrific tales was pure genius! I never get tired of watching Creepshow!!! As for my favorite segment? That's easy! While I loved them all, Stephen King's THE CRATE was my favorite. Good story, good cast, deadly monster, and chills and thrills galore! When that Tasmanian Devil comes out of that crate for the first time, you can't help but spill your jellybeans! Great horror tale with plenty of BITE!!!
