View Full Version : Fan Made Misery Book Cover

Hi!

I just joined the forum a couple days ago looking for a place to post this. I had wanted to show Stephen King himself, and this seems to be my best bet.

To explain it a little bit, I had a graphic design course in my junior year of high school and one of our assignments was to create a book cover for our favorite book. Naturally I chose Misery. I've read it multiple times and it's my absolute favorite novel. I've always loved the original cover but the copy I had was folded improperly, which was my main reason for remaking a cover. I measured it to the exact inch and recreated it in every way (no copyright infringement intended of course). Finding it later I really felt the urge to be able to show Stephen himself, just as a piece of fan art since most of the students in my class brought up the idea of sending it in. So here it is!

I hadn't really thought about it but I probably could. If I was going to try another it would most likely be Christine. The best way to work with book covers is if you know the material very well and know what's important to the story but in a way that's not too revealing.

That is an amazing cover..I came in here expecting to see a Misery's Child cover..haha GREAT JOB!

I love the cover! It's really funny because I was on deviantart friday, and I searched some of the stephen king books I've read just to see some fan art. So I type in 'misery', and guess what I see? Your cover! I thought "Hey, that's pretty neat. Whoever thought of that was pretty smart" And then i come here, and I see it!

I thought it was a good story.

WOW!!! EXCELLENT work. My ONLY critique would be to add a dark, thick mysterious liquid on a few keys and running down the front of the typewriter on the back page....

Just a thought.

That would be a good element to add! I'd have to practice my coagulative skills in photoshop blood, though.

Hey man, Good stuff! Maybe a pill bottle with a few of Paul's "magic medicines" lying on the keys would work if you ever want to monkey with the image again...

That is very cool! That should be the real cover for the book.
