Hiya, I'm new here, I've read Stephen Kings Shining, Pet Sematary, Salems Lot and The Stand, was wondering about It, is it worth reading, and should I read it next?

I've read it somewhere between 13 and 15 times, so if you don't read it, I've got you covered!!!

What an INCREDIBLE book!!! In my humble opinion, probably SK's BEST with regards to character and story development. ENJOY THE RIDE!!!!

I'd suggest that you stop reading our opinions, find a copy of the book, sit down, and start reading. You will be glad you did.

I'm working my way through the novels for a second time, its been a lot of years since I read the early works. I've decided IT is going to be the next one I pick up, largely due to reading all the enthusiastic posts about it on this forum and being reminded of how good it was.

I restarted the Dark Tower series about a month ago. I re-read It just before that. "It" is a book that simply NEVER gets old!!!!!!! Just as good the umpteenth time as it was the first. (of course I can practically recite the book by now!)

I'm about 700 pages in. I was a bit put off by the length at first, but this story is really good so far. Everything just flows.

Is It a scary book, I mean I know all of Stephen Kings books are scary up to an extent, but is It a particularly frightening one?

Tell you what...read the first chapter (about 13 or 14 pages I think). That will tell you about the fear factor of It!

I will also say, It isn't even so much about how scary it is, but about the beautiful picture SK paints with setting and character development. I have never loved and hated SK characters like I do the ones in It!!!

I absolutely could not read this book, i got about a fourth of the way into the book and can't even look at the poster because i have severe Coulrophobia (intense fear of clowns) so it sucks that there will always be that one SK book that i can't read

I have read IT once...when I was in 8th grade...wow, that was almost 10 yrs ago. It took me 2 months to read it, and I loved it. But it also took me about 2-3 tries before I could finish it, because I just kept getting so busy or I would read so little of the book and just lose interest. I have tried picking it up to read it again, and I have even gotten as far as just over 500 pgs into it, but I get to the point where I start to lose interest...but it is weird because I consider IT to be one of my favorite books. The reason for the interest factor for me though is because with my job (and when I was in college) I was working so many long days, and would have very little time to read. Now that I am able to read more (no more studying since I have graduated college!) I plan on reading IT again sometime soon.

Like I said...IT is one of my favorite SK books and I look forward to reading IT again and reading your opinions on IT.

Ok so I thought I would post this. I am in the middle of reading IT. Last night i was reading in bed and finished the part where Mike Hanlon wakes up from writing and finds the balloon tied to his lamp. I closed the book, looked over at my fiance who was already half asleep, and said, 'spooky stuff' as I put the book down. She is very afraid of clowns and frowns upon the fact that I am reading this book in bed. So her response was, 'Don't tell me. I don't want to have nightmares. I'm going to dream of bunnies and fairies and...balloons.' My heart stopped. I kid you not. I can't remember the last time I was so freaked out. Of all the things for her to say she said balloons, not even knowing that balloons are a part of It. So creepy. Had to share.
