How many folks go to library book sales? I went to one this weekend and loaded up. Saturday hardcovers were $1 each and Sunday was the bag sale. $3 for a bag and buy two bags get one free. I picked up a few on Saturday, including a well used copy of Skeleton Crew (one of the few hardcovers I didn't own), and 3 bags on Sunday. $9 and 66 books later, it's getting about time to build another set of bookshelves. Lots of different authors like Baldacci, Michael Connelly, Koontz, Cornwell, Reichs, Clancey, and others. I also picked up a few reference-type books for home improvement, dog training, and mythology. They didn't have but two SK books, Skeleton Crew and Lisey's Story, which I already have. I went to one 3 months ago and picked up thirty-some novels. My TBR pile is getting a little out of hand.

I went to a library sale in January. It was pretty disappointing, I couldn't find much although there was a lot there. Oh well, I'll just wait for the next one I guess.

Ah, I love library booksales. They rarely happen at my local library, but I can usually end up getting giant crates of books for $1 each. Though most are old books that I'll never read because I have no interest in them, I once hit a jackpot with one loaded with Crichton, Clancy, Koontz, etc.

I try to avoid them when with my great nephew. We used to call in the library each week when I was minding him and he always would go find the same book to read. Wobble bear says yellow. One day it was gone but he refused to choose another story. I personally was happy to see the back of the book. As I browsed the sale section on the way out I heard a euphoric cry 'appy ooooh' Looking down on my then 1 and a bit nephew, I saw pure joy on a beautiful face as he clutched the beloved, Wobble bear says yellow. We are now the proud owners of said story which gets read again and again and again:down:

I hit them sometimes and find some awesome deals. Years ago, I found some Old German books about the 1936 Olympics. Both books are in German and have the pictures throughout that appear to be pasted in. Several pictures of Jesse Owens and Adolph Hitler make it very interesting.

Like any treasure hunt, sometimes I find gold, other times nithing. Got a nice hardback of Needful Things at a library sale in Tahoe City 2 summers ago.
