Oh man, I haven't heard that song in a million years!

Me either; I found it a few days ago while doing some research. And it's damned creepy too. But somehow I saw Roland in Lee. I thought it was cool and worth sharing with the class.
BTW: does anyone understand the meaning behind the lyrics? I have an idea but not sure...

I don't know what the lyrics are about. When I was a kid, my mom's 3rd husband had this on 8-track and we used to beg him to play it over and over. It's creepy as heck, and it used to weird me out.

I never saw the video before now, but it's PERFECT for the song.

I had forgotten that song, so very haunting. As usual it's all tied up in the gods and their dealings with mortals -

Lee:
Some velvet morning when I'm straight
I'm gonna open up your gate
And maybe tell you 'bout Phaedra
And how she gave me life
And how she made it in
Some velvet morning when I'm straight

Nancy:
Flowers growing on the hill
Dragonflies and daffodils
Learn from us very much
Look at us but do not touch
Phaedra is my name

Lee:
Some velvet morning when I'm straight
I'm gonna open up your gate
And maybe tell you 'bout Phaedra
And how she gave me life
And how she made it in
Some velvet morning when I'm straight

Nancy:
Flowers are the things we knew
Secrets are the things we grew
Learn from us very much
Look at us but do not touch
Phaedra is my name

Lee:
Some velvet morning when I'm straight
Nancy:
Flowers growing on the hill
Lee:
I'm gonna open up your gate
Nancy:
Dragonflies and daffodils
Lee:
And maybe tell you 'bout Phaedra
Nancy:
Learn from us very much
Lee:
And how she gave me life
Nancy:
Look at us but do not touch
Lee:
And how she made it in

Isn't that an awesome video? I still see Lee as Roland tho. Maybe it's just me.

Hi,

Phaedra = The daughter of Minos and Pasiphae, who fell in love with her stepson, Hippolytus. On her rejection by him, she brought about his death by slandering him to her husband Theseus. She subsequently killed herself in remorse (Brewer's).

Hmm.

Long days and pleasant nights
