We have the Big Apple BBQ every here in NYC and I've been wanting to go to this festival for four years and every year I've managed to miss it for one reason or another. This year, I will be out of town. http://bigapplebbq.org/

Are there any big food fests near you? Maybe this year, I'll have to find one out of town because I keep missing mine. :biggrin2:

Sorry to hear that you'll have to miss it again. That's the story of my life! I always miss those kind of events, and I love to eat!!!! Even in my dreams when I'm about to take a bite of something delicious, I wake up!! I can't win.
Are there any food festivals around my part of town? Probably, but don't ask me when.......you'll be disappointed....again.

This one is wonderful, and not too far from you AngelZ. I really can't say enough about Maryland sea food, so it's probably best if I don't get started....

I'm Jewish and two of my brothers cook for a living. Every day in my house is a food fest. You're warmly invited :biggrin2:

Each fall the city part of my area has a SEAFOOD FEST. Lots of fresh seafood, as it is right on the Gulf of Mexico. Have not been in a few years- it became too crowded.

We have several food fests around me all year. There are always chili cook offs in between too. A favorite of mine, though, is the Food & Wine Festival at Disney World's EPCOT.

Maine Lobster Festival (http://www.mainelobsterfestival.com/) known to locals as the Rockland Lobster Festival, boycotted annually by PITA. Have to confess I've never been.

We have the Taste of Edmonton during Capital X. I imagine there are many food fests south of us during the Calgary Stampede too.

Here in my small part of Oregon we have the Strawberry Festival, the Corn Festival and we also have the Lamb and Wool Fair. :oo: I have been to Lamb and Wool Fair, but could not bring myself to try the lamburger. The Corn Festival is great! Free corn on the cob!!! I didn't make it to the Strawberry Festival this year, but they have free strawberry shortcake. Yummy!

As an aside, I tried some award winning Hawaiian noodles with veggies at a local Farmer's Market and it was a fabulous lunch! The pan fried noodles had broccoli, mushrooms, edamame, carrots, zucchini (green and yellow), bean sprouts, cabbage, spinach, peas and baby corn in it! It earned its title, for sure.

There's a 'Strawberry Festival' down in Berwick every year, which is always fun and tasty. There's a 'Clam Festival' up in Yarmouth, which I've had a lot of fun at in the past too. Up in Rockland and Rockport, they have a 'Lobster Festival', which is a totally yummy food to center a festival around.

Asparagus Festival in May, Strawberry Festival in June, Garlic Festival in later summer (to the south). My favorite are the fruit stands: strawberries and cherries but also peaches, plums, etc.

Well, if you're from my area, you'd better like fish, chowdaaah and lobstaah!! That's all we seem to have cook off's for, LOL! Maybe I'd like fish a bit more if I didn't have to smell it all summer every time I drive down route 18, LOL! Send in the lobstaaahs!!

(LOL'ing at Patinthehat, hehe!)

Mmmm... here on July 1st for Canada Day we have something called Folkfest. There's the Canada Day parade that ends at a community center, and they have booths and booths and booths of ethnic food of every kind. Usually they try to bring in dancers and entertainers for the mainstage. I always went for the Hungarian food. I'm not sure how to spell it, but it sounds like lesh-koo and it's homemade egg noodles with hot pepper rings in it. Have a dish of that with some homemade Hungarian sausage, a bun and a huge drink to try to put out the fire and it's divine...
