Hi,

Tonight in Rome the European Cup is being played for by the two best football (soccer LOL) teams in the world - Manchester United and Barcelona.

I'm kind of torn myself, Man U aren't a great favourite of mine, but as they've been coached by a Glaswegian for over twenty years, we see it up here as a win for Glasgow, and they have the Portugese Christiano Ronaldo, debatably the best player in the world, and the Englishman Wayne Rooney

And Barcelona, the Catalan giants, have the Argentian Lionel Messi, the other candidate for best player in the world.

I'm just hoping for a great game and a peaceful aftermath, after three died in Glasgow and one in Northern Ireland on Sunday after the Scottish League was decided.

So who will YOU be rooting for?

Long days and pleasant nights

Manchester United is the best one football team, undoubtedly. I am waiting with all my hopes which Man U are able to secure their position. Just Do It!

great teams that anyone enjoys to watch and they go for the goal not just the defense.. that's what football (soccer:laugh:) is all about
Ferguson is the most succesfull coach on the planet no doubt and there is so much talent in both teams..
both teams won their countries' championships the english and the spanish the two most difficult of the world.. what else can I say

Hi,

Ah well, worthy winners, congrats to Barcelona on their 2-0 victory.

I thought Messi, Iniesta and Puyol were outstanding, and no contentious refereeing decisions for a change this season.

Long days and pleasant nights

'Twas a decent game, I thought. Would have been better between Barca and Arsenal, but there you go. :smile2:

Hey John, didn't know about the deaths in Glasgow. Obviously heard about the Northern Ireland one because of the news exposure. Wonder why there's not been much of a squeak about the Scottish ones?
I guess, again, football will be blamed but really it was only the focal point. We all know what was really to blame, don't we? (Well, what two things, one being human nature.)

Hi,

Well, there is that, of course LOL.

But we're a little sad in Glasgow because a win would have made local boy Sir Alex Ferguson the greatest football manager in history.

I'm just happy that the 'Beautiful Game' was the winner. It was an awesome display by Barcelona!

Great performance from BARCELONA. Lovely individual skills from E'to for the opening goal and a sublime headed goal from messi for the 2nd.

I for one wont be sad that the MANURE (Sorry ...Man U) lost. But that probably comes from years of jealousy watching them win everything while my own team under-achieves.
Many of the papers, and radio pundits are reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson got his tactics wrong on the night. IMO it was just the fact that Barcelona played better and where great in possesion of the ball. Maybe things would have been different if Man Utd had scored early and then pressurised the Barca Midfield.???

ps...Congrats to Rangers for taking the Scottish Title.

And with Rafael Nadal beating everybodys a** in tennis match after match after match - I`d say the Spaniards are doing really good sportswise lately.:smile2:

Yes Srbo....Both Glasgow clubs, Rangers and Celtic have dominated the Scottish league for many years.
There has been talk of them joining the English Premiership, I'm not sure the Scots are to happy about this, however I would like them to compete in our league and I think they would be a decent addition to the fixture list!
This would also free-up the Scottish League and help improve the standard and opportunities of some of the other teams like, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibernian and the Dundee clubs for instance.

Personally I'm looking forward to watching some pre-season games for my team- Tottenham Hotspur. They are competing against both Celtic and Barcelona at Wembley.
