It's a series of interconnected stories that deal with friends from childhood to adult, the Vietnam War and it is also linked to The Dark Tower. I know thats not much to go on but
worth the ride.

Hi,

Hearts in Atlantis is about 619 pages (UK paperback).

Seriously, read the book, especially if you've read DT.

Long days and pleasant nights

We have synopses for each of the novellas in the Library section for Hearts in Atlantis (http://www.stephenking.com/library/story_collection/hearts_in_atlantis.html). Only the one for Low Men in Yellow Coats is on the main page, but if you go to the left column the others are in the In this collection subsection.

There are several stories in Hearts in Atlantis, but for me the story of Hearts in Atlantis itself is about love, and about how one may find it in the most unexpected places.

I strongly suggest reading it! I let it sit there for a few years and wasn't overly keen to check it out. One day I just dug in and started reading it..and finished it fairly quickly. It was better than I thought it would be, for sure. It just goes to show, you can't judge a Stephen King book by its cover!
Take care,
K

I enjoyed the book, but I made the mistake of watching the movie first. It was a good movie. Sir Anthony Hopkins was a main character. Enough said.

As I had already seen the movie, when I read the book...I got to the end of the movie in the book and had a little WTF? moment...there was still a lot of book to go. Luckily much of it was good.

Read the book and then rent the movie; I think you'll see what I'm typing about.

I liked this book too. I would suggest reading it without looking at what its about. I find that reading a book when you don't know what it's about is more satisfying.

Bryan knows what he's talking bout. for me read the book, then time went on, movie came out, and actually wasnt disappointed, best you could do without complications.
but the book, is sth that you really should experience by reading. cuz this one really made me feel emotions.... sth that very few books are written well enough to do to me.

but I wont say its the greatest book ever written in the history of mankind, cuz to each his own, and if you go into it expecting heaven and it falls short, you'll hate it.

dont think, just step into it, its good.

The book is really good, especially because the different stories are all somehow intertwined. Don't make the mistake and judge the book by the movie version. Hopkins is great of course, but the film only deals with the longest of the stories, "Low Men in yellow Coats." (I never understood why they didn't name it accordingly.)
When you're done with it, I suggest you read Black House next, apart from the DT novels, of course. You should finish with the new Kindle story, UR, which is a nice postscript to the whole thing.
Just my opinion though.

Dirk.

Hi :smile2:.
Definitely read the book, I am sure you will enjoy it. As previously mentioned all of the stories are intertwined by various characters, although each story in itself stands alone very well. I have read HIA a few times now and i never tire of it....i am a bit of a geek though:laugh:.

Yeah, I thought the film was OK...BUT I was glad I'd read the book first.
And you live and learn: I never thought of this as a story collection before. I just took it as one story, tbh. Though with the interweaving between characters and times, I can see why it might be a collection (what? 9-10 years after first reading it? :oo:).
