They are nothing like I pictured them in my head. Lily was a lot prettier! and Speedy looks totally different than I would have expected!

Just not a fan of comic books.

Ok, they're called "Graphic Novels" these days.

They're comic books, folks. Maybe a little higher evolution, but they are related to the books the big kid in third grade that failed twice kept reading and reading and reading and....

Can you imagine his book reports.

I have an early X-Men, doubt it's worth anything, but I think it's the one that introduces Archangel. Kid with wings? I'll go look.

#1) Wow. Almost evil to break the Ziploc seal, but I wanted to look....I found Blaine the Mono, World's Fastest Train..."The 'New Tokaido' train running between Tokyo and Osaka...average speed of of more than 101 m.p.h....The New Tokaido is powered by motors with the energy of 11,943 horsepower" A Cheerios commercial.

Back cover, Normal Rockwell is looking for people who like to draw!
(Marvel Comics Group, 12 Cents "50 Nov" Green Gal on the cover)

#2 Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. / Doctor Strange: Featuring The Great Captain America! Nick Fury and Captain America meet, fight, and become buddies (also 12 cents, Marvel, "159 Aug") And again with the Norman Rockwell ad on the back.

I have three more, but another X-Men 12center, is 54 Mar. Archangel's entrance.

I don't truck much with comics, but it was fun to go back and look at these.

Two other really interesting ones, but I'm done with those for the night. For the year.

I'm finishing up insomnia , then rereading Talisman, i need to refresh my memory of this story, haven't read it since it was first published. I think i'll probably add this graphic novel to the rest i have purchased.

I'm reading The Talisman now and I picture Speedy as Morgan Freeman... he kinda reminds me of his portrayal of God in Bruce Almighty lol. The only thing is, it's hard to imagine Morgan Freeman speaking so inarticulately

Jack should have longer hair, but Lily fits

Hi,

Well, maybe si, maybe no.

Comic books, yes, but not as we knew them.

Up until the release of the Dark Tower comics/graphic novels I would have agreed with you wholeheartedly.

But they opened my eyes to a world that I didn't know existed (particularly the high quality of the art), and now enjoy, and I think there are many on the MB who'd never even been in a comic book store until DT.

Give The Long Road Home a chance IMO (read without prejudice LOL)

Long days and pleasant nights

I was never much into comic books but I'm enjoying the graphic novels that are coming out. Besides The Gunslinger, The Stand, and The Talisman are there any other books that Sai King plans on making into a graphic novel?

I want to get this to see how they do on Wolf's rampage through Sunny Gardner's reform school. Or whatever it was called.

Issue Zero cover is up at newsarama.com

http://www.newsarama.com/comics/060917-Talismancvr.html

I read the book again recently and totally enjoyed it more so than the first time i read it in the 90s.

Full disclosure:

I've been helping Del Rey Comics with this book some what. I have to say this book is going to be great. From the awesome writing\adaption from Robin Furth and the amazing Art from Tony Shasteen each page I get in my inbox gets me more and more excited for this project. I've worked on a lot of Comics and Graphic Novels but this one is probably my favorite project this year.

I'll try to come back from time to time to point out where you can check out some preview art that has possibly not shown up on the main site.

Also I look forward in joining in on other conversations here as Stephenking.com.

What kind of extra stuff would you guys like to see in the comic besides the main story? I know Del Rey has some really cool ideas but I'm interested in knowing what you guys would like to see.

I don't doubt it. Dead Zone would make a cool comic series.

I always find the several stages of the artwork (sketch, pencils, inking and the final colors) fascinating, especially when the artist elaborates on his intentions with it. Same for the writer too.
It's not really an original choice, but I can't really think of anything else. It's not like there's a lot of additional info to tell, like the Dark Tower series had.

Hi,

LOVE the tantalising glimpse of the colour art on the main site banner.

And I look forward to hearing more from you, Derek, welcome to the MB, and keep posting!

I wish there would be a Manga adaption, I prefer them over Comics, but oh well, can't have everything.

I'm looking forward of reading the comics...if I get them :/

Im not big into graphic novels personally, but I do love the SK ones. I love the Stand series. I thought they did a steller job depicting one of my all-time favorite novels! The only graphic novels Ive ever read other than the ones based on Sai Kings work is the Sin City series and Watchmen. I highly suggest those as well if you liked the movies.
