Book suggestion for Mr. King ... based on his EW column

I just read the column that Mr. King (sounds weird, not sure how to address him I guess,he calls himself "Uncle Stevie" a lot in his columns...) wrote for last week's Entertainment Weekly about earworms (not yet on their site or I'd post a link) ...this made me think of a book I read about 6 years ago that I thought I'd mention. It is called "The Song Reader" and it is about a woman who helps people by interpreting the songs that were in their heads at critical/ important moments in their lives. It is not exactly about earworms, but it is a fascinating concept and I thought "Uncle Stevie" (or his fans) might be interested in it. Of course it's not a novel without its flaws, but it is worth a read nonetheless.

You can find the book on Amazon and I'm sure at all independent book stores too ... I cannot post a link here as I am a first time Poster. The author is Lisa Tucker.

What an interesting premise for a novel. I have fallen asleep with a song in my head and woken up with the same song going round while I'm making my coffee. Not even really aware for half an hour that it is still there! WTH? Like Stephen said just writing about it could spur it on to more looping so I will try not to think of which one it was. Anyway it happens all the time to me and I really hate it. There was one cartoon my son used to watch and I would not allow the sound up until the intro song was over because just a few notes of it would have me playing it over and over all day. I would literally run to mute the t.v. to avoid hearing it.

If you want earworms, check out Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (or something like that, Ricardo Montalban with the rest of the Crew).

The sense of scents is supposed to be first, as far as synchronizing past events, but as an ex-musician, it's sound for me.

I've smelled a full hrair apple pies and made many hrair bowls of oatmeal with cinnamon. Not much effect.

I broke up with one of the very few loves of my life while Don Henley was singing 'The Boys of Summer' when it first came out.

I love and hate that song to this day.

Watched that W.of K. pretty good one. Earworms yuk! Does anyone remember hearing the one about earwigs , watch they like to go in humans ears. (might happen when out camping in wilderness on the ground.)

Ms. Mod, I have a question...

Stephen has remarked in On Writing and elsewhere that he is an avid reader and generally makes it through 70 or so books a year. What does he do with all of them? Is he typically a book buyer or a library borrower? Even having several good-sized houses, after some years every wall would be lined. Does he maintain massive library collections in his homes? I was just wondering, does he do what I do? Box 'em up and donate them to libraries or other charities?

Now those are some earworms! I thought of that movie also when I first heard mention of earworms.
