Looking at my US HC copy of The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon this weekend, I noticed a nod to Richie "Records" Tozier of IT fame on the copyright page. Seems SK received "permission" from "Soul Fine Records" to use the lyrics of "Gotta Get Next to You (Jus' Slip Me a Taste)" with lyrics by none other than Richie "Records" Tozier. The lyrics themselves appear about halfway through the book when Trisha is singing to herself.
I was PM'ing on this subject with JohnD this weekend when he reminded me that a Tozier/Bill Denbrough song was used in Duma Key as well. Thankee, John!
I had very little expectation of finding a link in Tom Gordon viewing it very much as a stand-alone piece. Shame on me. I can't think of another author who rewards his Constant Readers with such hints at his other works. And on the copyright page this time, no less...
I hope others find this as rewarding as I did. I was so motivated, that I burned through half of Tom Gordon right away.

Hey Bop. It is quite a giggly moment when you experience this eh! It's like an inside joke and your the only one who gets it. (or should i say the Constant Readers are the only ones who get it.:biggrin2:)

Hi,
Interesting, I think, that Richie has obviously stayed with Sai King in all the years since IT IMO, through Tom Gordon to Duma Key.
Wouldn't it be great if he wrote the post-IT story of the Losers one day?
Long days and pleasant nights
