I think it is ABSOLUTELY fabulous that Stephen King embraces new technology, i.e. UR for the Kindle. However, it makes life extremely difficult for those who may possibly use new technology of a different make. I received a Sony ebook reader for my birthday and it is the greatest thing in the world, and Stephen King is my all time favorite author, but I cannot justify having to pay $359 for another electronic reader just so I can get a Stephen King story. Does anyone know if UR is going to be released for other electronic devices like the sony ebook, or if it is going to be released in hard-print. Maybe released as an audible, which I also enjoy but through my ipod, NOT iphone with itouch.

Amazon has a limited exclusive contract so it will eventually be released in another format but what that format will be has not yet been decided.

Hi,
Yes, I agree completely about the embracing of new technology for the age-old practise of story-telling (the city of Ur in Mesopotamia was the first place where the written word was ever used).
But I think we're in for another format war, Betamax/VHS, Xbox/PS, HD DVD/BlueRay etc etc.
In the long term I think that can only be for the benefit of consumers and I'm convinced that devices performing this function will soon become as ubiquitious as mp3 players, but I'm personally going to wait until the dust settles in the format war before investing in what is at the moment first-generation technology.
Long days and pleasant nights
