A lot of them didn't fare very well during the movie, and they would be pretty old by now since the movie was shot over 20 years ago, but I suppose it's possible. They may have been purchased or leased by the production company and then resold at the end of filming (assuming there was anything left of them to sell!)

Hopefully their transmissions went KAPLOOY so the people could finally leave that darn diner/rest stop :biggrin2: I based that response on Trucks I can't quite remember Maximum Overdrive's ending!

I thought the scariest part of that movie was the killer coke vending machine  I apparently have odd phobias haha!

Well, given your name, if you don't have a ready answer, I won't attempt to guess. LOL

Oh man, for some reason when I first read this, despite you asking if they were owned, I just pictured a Maximum Overdrive freak totally immersed in the world -- like, "are those trucks still driving [themselves] around?! Are they still out there on the prowl?!" :biggrin2:

the moment i found out that Stephen King wrote the screenplay and even directed it, it made me really want to rewatch it, but I haven't been able to yet. I watched it several times as a kid, when it was on TNT or whatever channel played it all the time. Good times!

It would be interesting to find out what happened to the clowns or jester? face on the toy truck, wonder if it is in someone's used truck field somewhere.

A website dedicated to MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE... that sounds very interesting. I'd PM you, but I don't think I have that "power" just yet.

One question I always had about the film concerns the newlyweds car. How come their car was fine when all else machinery was going haywire? Hmm. I smell a plothole...

Sad day when one of the pop companies did a commercial about this when it had been done before....

This movie scared the hell out of me as a kid. Who knew I'd grow up to marry a diesel mechanic?!?!?!
