Watched all of those you have mentioned, Mirrors was terrible, Austraila terrible, Milk very good, 24 redemption so so and I watched Cadillac Records as well last night and got really pissed off about the inacuracy of the movie...
Why would someone make a movie abot Muddy Waters, Etta James, Little Walter and the others when it`s very obvious that the director and the whoever wrote the screenplay have absolutely no idea about the blues and what really went on back in those times ?

The best scene in Twilight - the despatching of the sniffing vampire - took place off screen. The most frightening thing was the thought of kooking up with that miserable drippy girl for ever. Very poor on all counts.
Most recent film, something called Franklyn, last night. Recommended tactic - avoid it. Boring pretentious drivel, incomprehensible until two thirds of the way through.

Okay, I have to say it. I made my husband take me to see Race to Witch Mountain. made him, told him i'd pay promised any favours he wished. I loved the original Escape to Witch Mountain. LOVED  the original and you know what, Race isn't too bad, either. John began to realize that I might be a fan of the original when I pointed out the 2 original stars AND the camper van that Eddie Albert drove in the original. The plotline was predictable, the child actors just this side of credible but I didn't care. I'm hoping to see Knowing, Monsters vs. Aliens, Last house on the Left, Earth, Star Trek, Up, and on and on.

Twilight.
Pretty good, for what it is... A low-budget flick geared primarily towards a young female audience.
Could've been an excruciatingly sappy piece of ****, and it wasn't. It was decent. Had some beautiful shots & a unique musical score.
Yeah ok, so the hype is irritating. But I believe in giving a little credit where it's due. It was, by no means, a "bad" movie.

Well, I for one am 16 and I hated it. Hated the book and the film. I don't truly see the appeal. Stephanie (sp?) Meyers is in no way even an adaquate writer in my mind nor are her storytelling skills anything but cliched and weak. (Well, save the sparkling vampire portion. I'll give it to her for originality but what kind of vampire sparkles?!?)
Anyways, there's a condensed version of my well-premeditated Twilight rant...

Hi Jacob, i would have to agree with your mother here.:biggrin2:
The only decent thing about this one was Brendan Frazer but i was mightily peeved that whilst he now had an adult son he hadn't appeared to age himself...confusing. Also I didn't like that new lady who took over Rachel Weisz' role, i would rather they had killed her character off than have someone else reprise the role.

The 1st was The Women which was rented for my wife. A real chic flic!!!
(although I did want to see this as Meg Ryan is in it.......whooo hoooo she still does it for me!!! but shhhssssshhh don't tell anyone I watch girlie chic flics!!!)
The 2nd was Cass. This is a british film based on the true life story of Carrol (Cass) Pennant, who was a notorious football hooligan during the 80's. The film is very true to life and contains much gratuitus voilence and foul language. It is well worth a watch if you are not easily offended.

How were they? Really scary?
I just saw Knowing yesterday. Although some parts were questionable, I really enjoyed watching it.
I also watched The Descent again the other day. I did not remember how scary this movie really was. It 's not just the whole trapped underground in a cave thing, which is scary enough for me, but the creatures were pretty freakin scary, too. I have a fear of being buried alive (or buried at all) and I know I could never crawl through those tight places that cave exploring enthusiasts do.

THE BOY IN THE STRIPPED PAJAMAS
I liked it ! It's about a Nazi extermination camp from the perspective of a boy. The Nazi officer gets stationed at this camp, and has to take his family to live just down the road. His son tries to find something to do, and stumbles upon this boy behind a fence. What he would do to be as lucky as this boy behind the fence. He doesn't have to take baths, get's to wear his pajamas all day, etc.

His son tries to find something to do, and stumbles upon this boy behind a fence. What he would do to be as lucky as this boy behind the fence. He doesn't have to take baths, get's to wear his pajamas all day, etc.
This film is based on the novel by John Boyne. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and added it to my to-read pile!!
I will try and read it before watching the movie.

Bram Stoker's Dracula. It didn't follow the book (sideplot with Dracula & Mina?) but I guess the cinematography made it tolerable. Keanu Reeves wasn't that good.

funny I was just thinking about starting a thread like this.
As for myself, last night I finally saw the film adaptation of "To Kill A Mockingbird", and I love the story even more now. I had actually never seen it, only seen clips from it on tv shows or movies and always heard people talking about it.

I finally decided to watch Twilight and if Im being honest, you know I am  it wasnt as bad as I had expected it might be. The way the old lore was brought into the modern day setting as it was to me was pretty clever. I have no idea about the books or stories, but the movie, imaginative and creative, for me.

I jsut recently saw A Time to Kill, based on the John Grisham novel and it was very good, I highly reccomend it.
Whoever saw Push, and said that they liked it, you have a very very wide attention span. I saw it with 2 friends and we all agreed it was horrible; for an 'action' movie there was very little action. And those Chinese guys whose superpower was yelling, that was the funniest and best part of the movie.

Man, why does everyone love that saying by Roland? "Long days and pleasant nights?" I hate long days. I always feel like a zombie when it's 6:00pm and there's still endless work to be done. Long Days would exist in hell. And Rolands world was on the borderline of hell, like, where kids came out with the skin on the wrong side and crap. Ugh, keep those long days for yourself, and stop wishin' 'em on me.
Last night, I watched, The Letter (1940).
Betty Davis ownage! Man, her eyes are stunning. That slipknot song was right. I swear, my eyes started learning to crawl after watching all those closeups they do, to really let her eyes tell the entire story. She had an awesome body too. I dunno, I've always had a crush on a woman that has a smaller middle than top, and can get away with wearing a fitted sun dress... although I dated a girl once who's eyes lit up when she was excited, which made her face look like a pinball machine you just hit the motion bumpers on. YES! I DATED KRISTINE KOCHANSKI FROM RED DWARF!!! It's cool Lister, don't be mad... ;) I didn't wanna keep 'er. =0)
Interesting movie. Totally worth watching. I coulda shut it off, but I didn't, so that says something. I'd rather be a zombie than stare at cable television, in all honesty. But some of the classics are worth a look, and I'd consider this one of 'em, at least a little bit. ;)

The Strangers, Liv Tyler is in this, and so I thought for sure it was gonna be a good one but I didn't like it at all, the ending just killed it for me, creativity was out the window in the end. I just thought it was, after all, repulsive.
and what got me was, my boys were telling me 'this is a true story, true story', and sooo I checked it online to find that it actually wasnt, it had been inspired by some very minor similar events but not a true story at all, which is apparently what got this movie a lot of hype was that it was 'true', anyone else seen this?

Hehe Ms Mod... I figured maybe it was cause I used a name of a girl I said I dated in it... Although, Kristine Kochanski, was a character in the British novel/series Red Dwarf, that Lister was obsessed with for some reason.
But for whatever reason, I've always had a crush on her too. And not just her character, because she was kinda hot in the series, but her description in the book really. Lister was gonna retire in comfort when he married her and started his underwater farm on one of the moons of Saturn (Titan maybe?).
I watched Wall-E again last night. My favorite is when he's all alone, just working on earth. See! Evolution isn't flawed! If humans kill the planet with waste, we'll have robots and cockroaches taking the reigns of evolution, after we're gone! Sounds like a deal to me, that robot is still doing his cleaning job, 700 years after he was abandoned. He's a good robot. =o)

Paul Rudd has a sly thing going on that I like, too.

I agree with Srbo. "The Wrestler" (as good a title as any...omit needless words...although I would have subtitled it "Marisa Tomei is Still Hot and Shows Some Stuff) was great. Right before the end, I thought "don't screw this ending up!" And they didn't. I fully did that "yesyesyes" guy thing, and probably cried a little. I definitely cried during some of the earlier scenes. Not so much for the content, but because it was ended perfectly.
I'm not in the industry, what is it called, cinematography? Cameras and stuff? Great.
Rourke? SHAZAAM! He and Stallone must have the same HGH hookup. Mickey Rourke's acting chops are either still great or he IS that character.
I was on some family business (voluntary visit to a "rehab facility" that was eventually turned down [i have another whole book about this thing]) and we rented it on the hotel TV with a great couple of pizzas.
We only had a few people in the suite at that time of the intervention, and the numbers dwindled. I finished the movie.
Everyone has a story. Everyone IS a story. The cool thing is...you get to write most of your story, or at least aim your rudder.
Sheesh, I apparently have a lot of stuff bottled up.

Last night I`ve watched " The Unvited "...I HATE it when I can tell the ending five minutes into the movie.
Horrible.
ITs a remake of A TALE OF TWO SISTERS which is superior.

Last one was Milk, with Sean Penn. Amazing movie! He deserved the Oscar for it too! It wasn't quite the emotional story I thought it would be, but I think since it wasn't a 'weeper' it was even better. I already knew the story of Harvey Milk, but it still was a learning experience for me.

Last night we went to the cinema and saw Uninvited and Wolverine.
Uninvited was the usual drivel expected from these type of movies but Wolverine totally kicked butt man. It had it all...good background story, action, super powers (always a bonus:smile2:) and IMO is definitely one for the ladies if you like your men rugged and sexy...check it out, swoon:blush:.

I watched The Boy in the Striped Pajamas! It was a really good movie about the holocaust. I watched it with my kids, ages 15, 12 and 9. They really liked it and told their friends and teachers to watch it. They have heard of the Holocaust, but didn't really know much about it. This was a good version of the story through the childrens eyes. Very sad, but very good! :y:

and Burn After Reading (SUCKED!). I really wanted to like BAR, but I kept waiting, and waiting for it to get good, and then it ended.
:laugh:I thought Burn After Reading was absolutely hilarious! I loved it, but I have a really dry, dark sense of humor. So for me it was 1hr 35 minutes of pure entertainment. Brad Pitt's character was a riot.

I just watched a movie from 1980 that really blew me away. It was called, Brubaker. The story was amazing, the acting was absolutely awesome. I came in here to write about it, because I can't remember a time that something on television got me so infuriated. Everybody who's not a low level prisoner is so scummy in this movie. I had to hold back thoughts of killing them myself (if I were in Brubakers position at least), or at least knocking a few teeth out, in nearly every scene. There was a type of energy to the film too, that went seethingly violent in all directions. More than one direction of energy too, all clashing in the middle. One man was extremely heated in one direction, and the one he's in a shouting match with, was heated because of another clashing direction. And things just keep getting nastier too, all around.

I really was impressed. I'm still absolutely disgusted at humanity's depravity as depicted in this one, even though the entire thing was fiction. It still spells it all out, clear as a bell.
Good flick.

The Place Promised in Our Early Days
I loved this anime movie, how hard it gets for the young to reach the Tower that transforms matter. The way parallel universes or existences are explained as: "our world has dreams". Beautiful story and soundtrack.

This weekend i've watched Tremors and The Alphabet Killer
The first one was a hoot. It had been a while since I've seen it and enjoyed it again.
The latter was a bit weird, but it developed quite well. In the beginning i thought Eliza Dushku was badly cast, but she pulled it together after a while. The movie itself is not a keeper, but still ok for the one time.

I've mentioned it elsewhere, and it's called Seed.
I actually hated it when I mentioned it in a previous thread, but now I'm sort of glad I watched it as it has made me think about animal cruelty afresh again, and how brain-dead celebs will wear fur without bothering to think of the suffering much of the fur industry generates.
