I just looked at my calendar and it says that Friday is the first day of Spring. WOO HOO..It has been a really long winter in so many ways. Bring on the flowers and green grass/Easter Bunnies.

The 20th can't get here soon enough. While I haven't had it as bad as some of our friends in the upper Northeast and Midwest of these fine States, I've had my fill just the same.

Where I'm at, the first day of spring means that 100 degree days are coming on fast.

Well, as John D. and I know, the first day of spring was back on Feb. 1 ;)

But, according to the Julian calendar, the equinox is the start of spring. So welcome, welcome spring...!

And enough of the freaking snow, huh?

It has been beautiful in Indiana all week so far. I'm crossing my fingers that it will stay this way for the immediate future. I will definitely celebrate Spring on Friday WOOHOO!!! Now I will get to see if my flowers I planted survived, or if I am a wretched planter and killed them all :grinning:

We had a lovely spring day to day, lovely warm sunshine and clear skies.....even managed to get the fence repainted.

On the downside it means the dreaded hayfever season is one step closer!!!

The first day of spring may not be until the 20th of March... But here it has felt like spring / summer for the past few weeks. 80's - 90's already... i love the heat, but if its like this already I'm worried to see what the summer is going to be like.. last yr we tied our record of 43 days straight of temps over 100.

I have to agree about my winter not being as bad as those further North or West but it seemed to be a longer, colder winter than we are used to having.

OBOY!!!!!!!!! So looking forward to Spring.

There is one itty bitty patch of snow left in my backyard and one itty bitty pile left in the front yard! I thought I'd never see my lawn again! The kids and I went outside yesterday to play. Veronica found a whole handful of worms that she packed around for a while, I don't know what she did with them but I'm afraid to check her pockets. :eek2: Spring's here, yay!

Hello Pandora-
We need warm spring days and cold spring nights in the NorthEast for Maple Sugar!!
And I'm happy to report, we are getting them.
The first crocuses popped up in my garden yesterday! Woo Hoo.

Long days and pleasant nights.

For winter's rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green under wood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins.
