OKAY! Just been dusting the bookshelf (and tthere was loads of dust) and got to wondering if i was the only one who had several copies of my favourite king stories. this is what i have:

THE STAND: 3 copies (2 full versions)
IT: 2 copies
FROM A BUICK 8: 2copies
TOMMYKNOCKERS: 5 copies (2 hardbacks)
THE GREEN MILE 2 copies
PET SEMATERY 2 copies
ROSE MADDER: 2 copies
FIRESTARTER: 2 copies
NIGHT SHIFT: 3 copies
THE DARK HALF: 2 copies
BLACK HOUSE: 2 copies

I also have most of Sai Kings other novels in hardback or paperback.

does anyone else have a hoard of Sai Kings work like mine or have i finally gone behind the purple never to return?

I have several multiples- the Bachman books, Carrie, The Shining, Salem's Lot, Misery, The Stand. But I only have 2 of each, so I don't know what it means that you have as many as 5 (!) of some:biggrin2:

It would be easier for me to list those that I do NOT have duplicates of. I have a weird thing about me, if I see a book, take Different Seasons, that has a different cover color I have to have it. So almost ALL of my SK books are duplicated. Ones that are singletons right off the top of my head are, Black House, Tommyknockers, Duma Key( the rest of the new releases) and Rose Madder. The rest all have partners, I think...:oo::bat:

Yeah because I buy lots of used books and sometimes I forget which ones I already have. I have multiple copies of lots of them.

I used to have multiple copies of several SK books, but in recent times they have been passed on to "good homes" where they will be read with delight.

Hi,

Yeah, me too. I can't resist buying any Sai King book that I find in a charity bookshop, for example, even if I have several copies at home, though I (usually) pass them on to my son and his wife or to a friend.

I resisted a first edition Lisey in good condition a few months ago because I've already got one, plus an ARC copy, and it's been praying on my mind ever since LOL

I can resist anything except temptation!

Long days and pleasant nights

I just found a bunch of duplicates myself:) I decided to keep the hard cover and give the paperbacks away to the more needy book lovers:)

I have more than one of most of the books, one to read and one that is not to be touched. :oh:

That's exactly what I need to do. I was thinking of donating them, as none of my friends or family would appreciate them as much as I do.

I've got a bunch of multiples. It happens. My husband will see SK books at fundraiser sales and sometimes just pick up one for me. It's how I got my extra copy of The Dead Zone.

Oh yes. When my hubby and I shacked up we both had at least one copy of each book. He doesn't like to read the hardbacks so got back up paper backs in stead. We have recently given the duplicate copies to a charity shop. A bigger committment than a wedding ring.

thats so wierd. my house is just the same. i have four kids and theyre terrified of touching my hardbacks. the youngest did it last year, got chocolate fingerprints on the dust cover and did'nt get any pocket money for two weeks! (i know it was a bit mean of me and i do regret being so hard as long as you allpromise not to tell him!) stilli gess thats why i have so many worn out paperbacks. by the way is it possible to recycle old books?:dunno:

This sounds very familiar. I will see a SK book and grab it, just in case I don't have it.

I usually pick up any SK book I find. Just yesterday I bought Gerald's Game cheap at the local library sale. It's not in bad shape. $3. I usually don't keep duplicates and buy them with the express purpose of giving them away. This copy of Gerald's Game is headed to my oldest daughter living in Florida.

This is one of my small pleasures in life, especially with this daughter. She shares my passion for books and eagerly awaits "new" arrivals from Dad.

WOW I could never do that, :eek2: I vow to break any fingers that come near my SK books!

I've given copies away to charity; and repurchased books to reread when, due to travel or something else, I don't have a book I want to read with me.

One reason I haven't read all the Dark Tower series is the books are spread out in different locations; and I know (think) one box in the garage has some of the series in it. For some odd reason, have no idea why, I don't want to repurchase the Dark Tower series. I want to find and read the books I have.

But, the best reason for my duplicates is my father gives me Stephen King books as gifts for Christmas and Birthday. My Dad doesn't read Stephen King. Though, he reads a lot it's just not his genre.

I don't try to force the issue, and it would do me no good, anyhow. My Dad likes what he likes and that's all right by me. The nice thing is he has enough respect for my taste to give the books as gifts.

Sometimes, I've already bought the book but I never tell him. So, this year I have two copies of Just After Sunset... and the one that means the most came from him as a Christmas gift.

Did I hit the right thread or what?! I came looking for the 'social group SKT' thread in "Chattery Teeth" and happened upon this one instead.

SKT-Stephen King Trivia is looking for donations and it seems y'all have multiple copies!
What we're doing in SKT now is giving away a book every week, every Wednesday which is Wicked Easy Trivia. If you want me to add one of your books to our list that winners get to choose their prize from, let me know. The person donating the book will of course have to ship it to the winner but it's usually only a couple of dollars if you use media/book rate. AND at least you know your book is going to a good home! :)

Thanks Constant Readers! And come check out WEW in 2 days!!

I have two each of "The Stand" and "It". I had the paperbacks because they were easily taken on deployments, but later I happened upon the hardcover versions. Couldn't pass them up!

I have multiples, but they're different media:
paper, cassette, CD and ipod. Funny thing is I won't get rid of the cassettes even though I no longer have a cassette player. Oh well - someday I just might :smile2:

I haven't got duplicates of any King novels yet, but that's only because I've started keeping a list in my wallet of books I've got xD I do have multiples of some of Dick Francis' books, but most of those happen to be one is a softback, the other hard.
