hi i'm new i just wanted to ask does anybody think when he writes he reflects himself and his state of mind in his male role charactors?

Well I think he does, some more so than others. I thought I saw a lot of Sai King in the Duma Key book, and obviously the dark tower series. But some people I just think he makes up. They "come alive" inside his head.

I would think that, like an actor, it would be hard to keep yourself completely out of your characters. Who do you know better than yourself?

I think everything we do is reflected in what we have experienced in the past, present and would like to in the future. Surely some of his life is reflected in his work.

Yes and also in his female characters. This to me is the scariest part of writing, everything your character says, thinks, does, is a reflection of your own thought process. It's like standing outside naked. I think it takes tremendous courage.

I agree. I think a lot of SK appeared in the Duma Key character, the witer in MISERY, several characters in THE STAND and virtually all of the various "kids" in his books, especially "Jake" in the Gunslinger books.
