I guess this would really just be for the moderator, but ... does Mr. King ever log in and check out the message board?

He's admitted to sneaking on every so often to read the posts but I believe he does so as a guest so that he can go unnoticed. :smile2:

Nice to know he pops in occasionally, even as a guest, he has his own little "Ghost" fleet that he can sneak in with and view our posts. Makes me smile a little on a Friday the 13th afternoon. I work at a College where every Friday the 13th is a very special day and you need to dress in the "school" garb and all it does is remind me of the date. I am not fond of the number 13 in any form and I work at a place that celebrates it:) {Had a moment of rambling there....}

That's nice to know, at least he has a site that is thought provoking as well as being a truly welcoming place to visit.

I remember when King logged on before, years ago, on the old site. His name was bright blue like the moderators names used to be, and he was only in for a second. I think that was back before Jordan put the "auto-not-able-to-message-King-personally" script in, because I messaged him quickly at some point, (although it might not have been that night I saw him), and stated something simple like, "I'm not kidding about the magic. It's all I am. Say the word, and it's a done deal."

Or somethin' like that ;)

I didn't message him again, and I hope I didn't give him too much of a headache by it. Soon after his account wouldn't even accept messages either.

Yeah, King has admitted he keeps up with the sites forums a little bit. But I'll tell ya, when I hop onto this site, and scan the topics, and there's absolutely nothing that catches my interest, I just close the window. And it has been known to happen here. I'm a slop-job really, when it comes to my focus in production, but most of the time when I'm even entering into a thread, I ask myself, "would King even care to read this?" I know a lot of it I wouldn't.

True, some people always have witty stuff to add, and can make a thread on the proper way to make pop-corn in a microwave with a pop-corn button interesting to keep up on... but if I were King, I'd be much more interested in ethics based topics, in political based topics, or in topics concerning the worlds I've created in my stories. And with a little digging, all that is right here in plenty.

If I were King, I'd probably approve of the site, and have to check in on a kind of regular basis... ;)

I don´t think that he is our dear Moderator. As she said he wouldn´t have time to do it. He´s busy with playing softball, right? ;)
Seriously, who would write those great books then? I rather have him sitting at his desk thinking about a new storyline to entertain and scare me at the same time than sitting at his desk in front of his pc and answering questions about what his favorite color is.

I don't know for sure, but I know I would.

As long as it's all in message board form. I can't puke on him this way.
It's only with writers that I do that, by the way. Movie Stars and Musicians do nothing to excite me. Seeing them is like "hey, how's it goin? Liked *insert movie, record, show, song here*" and then small talk and then off I go. I once had a half an hour conversation outside a theater with Jello Biafra back when the Dead Kennedys were my **can't live without** band. Nothin. But get me in front of an author I like and I'm toast. I stutter, I stumble, I lose my usually suave command of self. It's downright embarassing!
So, he can hang out here all he wants. He has nothing to fear because vomit doesn't transmit over the internet. But if he ever meets a tall girl with brown hair who smiles idiotically, stutters through his name, shoves a book at him and then pukes...
It was probably me.

Hmm...tbh, I know if I was in his position, and had time (he's a busy guy, after all), I'd pop in once in a while under a series of log-ins and just...not be famous for a while, just be one of the guys in an environment that is pretty much safe as you like. After all, what's it take to close a window or log out and do something else?
Plus, the possibility kind of excites me. Theoretically, I could have been listened and responded to by SK, who (perhaps it goes without saying) I respect immensely. I guess I'll never know...and the other thing is, even if someone was to pop a PM and go 'Hi, Stephen here', my immediate response would be 'WTF? Cool! But...hang on. I call BS'. So it's a perfect disguise.

Also, just to add, I'm not calling BS on anything here, but surely he's smarter than to ever log in using his own name? Unless it's the old 'hiding in plain sight' thing...it's so obvious that people are likely to just go 'Yeah, who're you trying to kid?'

Actually, shortly after I joined the board, Mr. King signed on and purused while I was on. I was so excited I forgot the rule not to contact him and sent him a PM. (I got in trouble by Jordan, then I remembered the rule):wink2: It was very cool though:)

Chances are that most of the time, it is Jordan testing out the system and making sure his account is not having any problems. It's still possible to read the posts as a guest and when Steve does his reading here, that's how he does it.

I am glad to know he's watching us. Makes me feel protected. I was hoping one day I would be able to let "The King" that he finally made me have an "EXTREME" nightmare. The Blackhouse was the one that did it. If I was on-line at 3 am 4 years ago, you would have gotten an e-mail. Thank you for all the great reads!!! Can't wait until the next and the next and the next and the next. Keep um coming. From a constant reader since the teens. Long Live The King!!!

Is it just me or anyone else found this post from Marsha sweet and amusing at the same time, and found yourselves giggling and smiling like a kid just by the idea of Uncle Steve and MsMod dancing? :biggrin2: Come on! I HAVE to see the pic now. I don’t know why. Not because I’m suspicious about Steve pretending to be Marsha. I don’t even know how she always takes the time to answer all the many silly things we ask in a charming manner, checks the board, and performs her multiple tasks as his personal assistant (which is a pretty exhausting job, been there, and not even for a famous person). Even we can’t see your face, MsMod, whenever you got a tiny bit of time free and if you still want to share the photo with us, I’m sure it would be appreciated.

About other suspicions, from time to time I’ve read some answers here and there that seemed to come directly from the King’s mouth, but I don’t know. Anyway, yeah, I think he sometimes takes a look and gets a good laugh at our questions and doubts. He seems to be a guy with a pretty good sense of humor and in touch with reality and daily miseries since he’s been there. I can’t think about him as a snobbish best-selling author locked on his ivory tower looking all the way down to “common” people. He pretty much seems “common” people too... only touched by a golden wand. :wink2: That’s why we call him Uncle Steve. And I’m sure he doesn’t take that as a disrespect sign, but only a demonstration of true love and appreciation due to his humble nature. An honorable man never forgets where he came from, no matter how deep in money he’s swimming now. And Sai King sounds very honorable to me, and with a good memory for important things.

Ri the Lousy Translator totally beat me to the punch. If SK ever wanted to answer questions, he could always do it through Ms.Mod's log in, and if it got too long, crowded, or rowdy or the dinner bell just rang and he had to split, he would, and she'd just be the only one behind the blue Moderator log in once again. And there's a suggestion that can be happily ignored and that's of the good too....

Every time Chuck Norris is on TV for an infomercial or a 'Walker' re-run, Stephen King collects a $100,000 royalty.

Because King created Chuck Norris.

And speaking of "dood", just when did this term evolve into a "unisex" salutation? Today is is equally appropriate to address either a male or female with this salutation.

And furthermore.....my teenage children address me as "dood", which of course I regard as lack of respect, but they regard as a term of endearment. OMG, it's true.....we grow up to become our parents! Aaaarghhhh!!!
