:smile2: Do you have anything in common with Stephen King? The number 19 is significant for him and that is my birth date. He is verbose and so am I. Kismet?

uhhh. I don't know? He likes to write and I like to read. That's about it. oh yea, both of our fathers walked out and was raised my single mom. We both have one sibling of the same sex. Hey we got more in common than I realized.

Good question. Without actually meeting/talking with the man, I can't say for sure. He's said writing is the thing he does best and what he was put here for (been quoted as saying that, anyway, which isn't always the same thing :wink2:); I feel the same way. Whether it's true or not I have no idea, but I don't get that sense of 'this is me' whilst doing anything else.
I also know what it's like to be skint and watching pennies. Been like that for most of my life. But I don't suppose I'm unique in sharing that.

I am originally from Maine (Kittery, not Portland). I'm a Democrat and supported Obama. I have two boys and so does he. I would also say that Mr. King has strongly influenced my sense of humor and world view.

Yes, lots of mindset things. Plus, when I open my mouth, all my guts fall out. :(

We read a lot of the same books, but then again, he reads A LOT of books, so the likelyhood of some overlap is HIGH.

He was an English teacher, I'm not (but really want to be).

Other than that, I don't know. I'm sure there are several things we have in common, most people have some stuff in common.

Verbose means wordy. As you know, SKs book and short stories have many pages. My writing tends to be this way too.

Quite a lot actually. I was also brought up by just my Mom. Circumstances were slightly different, but my Dad never wanted to bother with me, and I only saw him once in my life. We didn't have a lot of money, but my Mom made things fun. I love to read and write, and I've always done so. My Mom encouraged my reading and writing much like he described his Mom in On Writing. I also agree with pretty much everything he says on any subject. :)

I don't know if theres anything I can say of the top of my head that we have in common expect we both write. Though I've got a long road if I could get as good as King (Which probably will never happen, but its fun to try).

Hi,

Well, we were both born in 1947, though he's seven weeks older than me LOL

It did mean that we listened to the same music, experienced the same world events, and went through many of the same life experiences at the same time and age.

A very big 'where', but a very small 'when'

Right now, at this very moment, Sai King and I are both turning oxygen into carbon monoxide.

Hmm...I write, drink and smoke. Though I think he quit drinking and smoking. I was also poor and raised by a single mom...though I'm still poor. That may change though. I'm working on getting my novel published. Oh, yeah, I read maniacally

I grew up in Lisbon Falls and my grandparents lived in durham. I am told that my father went to the shilo as a boy and something terrible happened. I hear stephen king wrote of the shilo but I would like more acurate information rather than just what I am told. My eldest sister went to high school with stephen at the Lisbon high school. My sisters and I have questions that may help us make sense of things that happened in our childhood but much of the information in my family is kept secret. As an adult I would like to know the truth about the shilo and what went on.

My birthday is Feb. 19, and my house number is 19.
Oh, and right before I turned 20, I was 19...:biggrin2:

Raised by a single mom, started dating my husband on Sept. 21st. My daughter was born on June 19, though not the same year as SK's accident. Other than the fact that we are both humans, I think that's about it.

I'm from the South, supported Bush 1, Bob Dole, Bush 2 (twice), and McCain; so I guess Mr. King and I are twins!

I was being sarcastic. I would disagree with Mr. King in many areas of politics and religion (I'm an ordained minister in a very conservative denomination) but he's my favorite author. No one else is a close second.

Huey Lewis and the News
I want a New Drug Lyrics
I want a new drug
One that won’t make me sick
One that won’t make me crash my car
Or make me feel three feet thick

I want a new drug
One that won’t hurt my head
One that won’t make my mouth too dry
Or make my eyes too red

One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I’m with you
When I’m alone with you

I want a new drug
One that wont spill
One that don’t cost too much
Or come in a pill

I want a new drug
One that won’t go away
One that won’t keep me up all night
One that won’t make me sleep all day

One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when I‘m with you
When I’m alone with you
I’m alone with you baby

I want a new drug
One that does what it should
One that wont make me feel too bad
One that wont make me feel too good
I want a new drug
One with no doubt
One that wont make me talk too much
Or make my face break out
One that won’t make me nervous
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel like I feel when Im with you
When I’m alone with you
