Just pondering the possibility of this ever seeing the light of day...the reason I ask is for the uncollected tale "Before the Play".
King did it twice before: once with the Stand and again with 'Salem's Lot.
I remember reading a portion of BTP in TV Guide when the mini-series was made back in the mid 90's.
What are other folks thoughts on this? I, for one, would love the Overlook's history expanded upon. I'm also curious as to how long this prologue actually was.

It was about 6000 words long, so maybe 15-20 pages depending on how it's laid out. The version in TV Guide was perhaps half of it, as I recall.

That would be great to once again see the light of day but what interests me too is the excised epilogue called after the play king reported as lost, i know a section of it was put at the end of the book, but does anyone have any extant info of what it contained.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the reply, I was also unaware the epilogue was incomplete as well. I'm learning as I go!

It could work for the book, but I think put it on the dvd. You know how they have a pamphlet in some movies that talk about the legacy and all that? Because it brings up a good point jack o' lantern face- a special edition version of The Shining: I know there's a documentary already with the one dvd already released and other material but that could be cool in like a Dawn Of The DeAD WAY from their dvd-it's one I can think of that incorporated notes on G. Romero>not Huge but it had some bio and notes on the movie. Film More Movie Too!!!! No just kidding the movie is fine how it is but I do agree with you sr tojoro, a compilation would be cool, I just only say in a dvd in a pamphlet- that would be killer
