This is by far one of my favourite SK stories and there didn't seem to be a thread for it so if theres others that like this story as i do then tell me what you think, ok? :smile2:

Discuss anything you want about this story, talk about the movies, the characters anything.

Matthew.

I haven`t read the book, but I loved the movie, Johnny Depp is my favourite actor and when I see him on that role I can really imagine how is Mort in the book, although I haven`t read it, he`s awesome actor!.
I`d like to have read the book before seeing the movie. but in that time I didn`t even know Stephen King, and now I just don`t feel ineteresting on reading it, it`s a shame because it is a great story!
are there any big changes in the movie? or is it faithful to the book?

I liked it by i wasn't sure about the ending, i would have preferred it to end differently, it seemed to me that SK added a twist that wasn't needed :glare:

I like it but i would rather go with the ending in the movie. Cos a woman who would take your love away when your love is all you have had it coming!:oo:
Besides fresh corn is very good:biggrin2:

Just reread it two days ago. It starts a bit slow, but when you get the hang of it, story just pulls you in. I saw the movie, but that's been a while back so I the details were a bit foggy, thank god. I love the part where he finally realises he's Shooter but it's too close to the ending. It's like hey I'm also Shooter and he wants to kill my wife. OMG She just drove in, a small fight and it's over. The story takes his time easing the readers into the whole i'm two persons idea, but when he himself knows it, so when it could get really interesting, the story is practically over. Well Sai King knows best, I presume.

It's a great book. I just wished that I hadn't saw the movie before reading the novella.

I thought that the book ending was better than the movie ending. Also, Depp is a good actor but for this particular role I think someone else might have been better.

I guess I was lucky -I didn't even know there was a film when I read it and it was FANTASTIC. I was jitterbugging at my sit (if that's not correct English, remember that non natives can at times reinvent the language :biggrin2:), because I simply couldn't cope with that much excitement.

I especially liked the ending with the corncobs and the mysteries that at time remain mysteries, even to those who made them happen.

I saw the film before I read the story. And when I start with Secret window Secret garden I realize that, hey this is the story that I saw on tv year ago. I really enjoy the storie.

I really identified with Mort in this story, as far his marriage went, and loneliness and isolation that followed, so the movie ending was much more satisfying for me. But I enjoyed both.

This story was the rare occurrence where I think the movies ending worked better than the books, but both are still very good

Secret Window, Secret Garden is probably one of my favourite SK novella/stories. I loved the twists, and how throughout, you're kept guessing as to whether Shooter is a separate person, or just in Mort's mind. And I personally loved the rather more ambiguous ending of the story better than the film. Actually, I was really disappointed by the last third of the film - I loved the performances almost right to the end, but it just felt like it got a bit farcial. I have to admit, I can be a bit stick in the mud once I really like something - I want it to stay just so, no variations!

I love this story. It was the only one in this novella that held my interest. I loved the movie as well. Johnny Depp did a fantastic job!

I think this was the best story of the book, had me on the edge of my seat thinking about what was going to happen next. I haven't seen the movie, maybe I'll find it to see how it goes. Excellent story ending! :oo:

This is probably my favorite adaptation of one of SK's novellas. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen this movie... Johnny Depp pulled Mort Rainey off beautifully. I've played this movie for friends and -- hook, line and sinker!

Very cool story. I kept thinking of The Dark Half while I was reading it. Except you knew George Stark was a separate person. This one you werent sure until later. I dont remember watching the movie though, have to get that one. People on this thread have said good and bad things about Depp playing Mort so I'll have to find out.

Moto - you should definitely see the film. It's good, I enjoyed it very much.

But I enjoyed the novella abundantly more.

I saw the movie before even reading the story. This book I bought recently. I must say I enjoy the story more than I did the film. I have not finished to read it yet, and I'm kinda hoping it's not like in the movie somehow. Don't really know why though. I loved John Turturro's interpretation of Shooter's character. He looked insane enough for me. But the part with the cat, I completly freaked out. I am a cat lover, so it made me grinch a little bit...I mean a lot.:oo: Great story. I greatly appreciate it. :wow:

Yesterday I finished reading Secret Window, Secret Garden. I've seen the movie before, so I already knew the story. But, actually, I think that they are both great - the story and the movie. I think that the story was well adapted into the movie, though the ending is a bit different. I've been thinking about it - what ending I like the best, and I can't decide. It just seems to me that I got used to the ending of the movie. Well, anyway, the story is awesome, it is truly one of my favorite SK stories.
