View Full Version : 5 Things You Could Have...

Hypothetically speaking now.....if you had to suddenly move into a small place (for whatever reason)...and you were only allowed to bring 5 extra personal items (things you don't really need to live life, but make life wonderful) what would they be?
1. Photo album of my sons
2. My autographed copy of The Talisman
3. My Lord of the Rings boxed set
4. My laptop
5. My Christmas decorations (sorry, counting as 1 unit):biggrin2:

Pfffff difficult question! I still have lot of stuff around that I can't find a place for, after I moved I got a little bedroom, in fact, it was a little office/studio.
Let me see...
1. My PSP to get online.
2. Any book that I'm reading at the moment (Right now I already read all the ones I have, so cannot say any).
3. PS2 with Okami game inside it. (I can use it to play my CDs too, so that would be fine)
4. My sumi-e set, I can't live without painting! (or writing some kind of haiku)
5. My Maneki Neko, I'm used to his presence! It's supposed to give good luck or call people.

2. Dylan Dog comic book collection (cca 150 of them)

As far as THINGS go, I only have a few things that I would want to take with me.
1. My mothers and grand mothers antique chests that I restored that are full of my childrens treasures. OK that may be 2 things.
2. My childrens bronzed shoes and baby books. May be 2 also.
3. My photo albums.
4. My Stephen King collection.
5. This last one I can not decide on, I would be torn between my Batman collection or my laptop, I guess it would depend on if I had internet service so I will leave this one unanswered.:bat:

It doesn't matter.
Even if I narrowed down all my crap to 5 things, somehow I would attract a houseful of new crap without even trying! Stuff just seems to float my way, and end up in my house, whether I'm looking for it or not. I have "stuff" issues.

There's something very amusing about the phrase "lush bath products." I shall giggle to myself all morning when I think of it. My list:
My cats.
My computer.
The pink microplush robe that my husband, who normally does not buy clothing even for himself, inexplicably presented to me last year. SO COMFY.
My iPod and the snazzy Shure SE-310 sound isolating earphones my husband also bought me out of the blue.
A small bookshelf filled with the books I truly cherish; for the rest, I have my library card and access to a wonderful library system containing over three million books.

Hi,
Anne once said on a live radio interview that what she would like was an extra vertebrae and a prehensile tail.
Both the interviewer and her mother were mystified.
I wasn't.
She added that her hobby was 'hedonism'.

your question made me realize something, i have absolutely no attachment to anything in my house. sounds very enlightened or spiritual doesn't it? well, it's not. it's actually kinda sad. i have some pretty nice things, i guess i just don't give a **** about any of them. i think i spend so much time in my work truck ( like i have another truck or something. ) that i kinda just set up shop in there. all my music is on zip drive or ipod in the truck and all the rest can just rust for all i care. weird huh? i guess i read stephen king to get scared and i read his message board to scare myself.

Off on a tangent...
You know that old chestnut question "Your house is on fire and you only have time to grab one thing on your way out the door -- what's the one thing you'd be sure to take with you?" A situation arose where Jean Cocteau was asked that question once, and his answer was...
"The fire."
We all float down here...

Can 'Sexy-hot-energetic-woman-who's-kinky-and-absolutely-fun-loving' count as a personal item?
I'd need my computer system, because this is 90% of my daily electronic dose of entertainment. From reading news articles to taking the extra blank space off of lossless audio format hidden tracks, to looking at slideshows of Mariah Carey and Neriah Davis photos...
Sooooo, One would be my laptop (including all of the media I've collected I love, photos I've taken, etc...), or even a new kick-assier laptop, with allll the bells and whistles. The package with the 2TB internal and additional external storage, big fat screen, RAID 0+1 config... (or whatever, hehe) All that fun stuff!
Two would be the internet, because I need some way to influx new media and communicate with the world and such. I'd never really turn this thing on if I wasn't connected. Plus, then I could always write and share my photos and laugh heartily with chatter in tech-oriented chatrooms at two in the morning.
Three... ummm... cozy creature comfort accouterments? Maybe a leather chair, couch... Can I get away with saying a super club-house style firetower observatory to put these creature comforts in? One that can see every sunset and sunrise, but has drapes with which to block all light out, whenever needed. Maybe even some colored glass oriel windows... Ooooo, and granite landscaping! I want it to view the land below it, outstretched, and amazing looking. It'll totally eye pleasing and ergonomic all around.
Four can be a male and a female of two separate but wonderfully compatible breeds, like maybe a Golden Retriever and a Husky, or even a wolf and a husky (if I'm going to be alone with the dog on said desert island or whatever, give it some wolf, I won't have to worry about it hurrassing anyone out here). Both purebreds too, or as close as you can come with a wolf, with wonderful genetic traits, like intelligence and caring for family, healthy long lifed parents, etc...
And Five would be an iPod, only hacked and modified so that it uses a Compact Flash card instead of the 1.8" clunky old hard drives they have in them. Maybe, stuff a 64 gigabyte card into a version 5.5 iPod Video model. Flashdrives replacing harddrives save endless electricity, from not having to drag the mechanical arm around across the disks, although load times are generally slower when trying to fill it. Heck, if we're going ahead with modding it, let's also add an internal bluetooth wireless dongle with a microswitch to turn it on and off. A bluetooth wireless headset with an iPod is just the bomb diggities, if you get a good enough headset.
I know I could just use the maxed-out computer equipment to play the media with, but I'm so addicted to my lovely iPod, especially when I put lossless media on it... I'd just miss it too much to be able to leave it behind, and it is the most versatile little peace of mind device that's ever existed in my life really. I slip on those ears, the world doesn't bother me half as much, pretty much instantly. ;)
