SSDD sums up my job as well

SSDD, of course.

Also, since my job is to tell other people what they are doing wrong and to argue for quality, sometimes it gets a bit frustrating. During those times, I have occasionally had this pop into my head: "He thrusts his fists against the post and still insists he sees the ghost."

How about the title of one of his novels?

Misery comes to mind for me.

"The thing under my bed waiting to grab my ankle isn't real. I know that, and I also know that if I'm careful to keep my foot under the covers, it will never be able to grab my ankle." - Stephen King, in the foreword of Night Shift.

Pretty good description of OCD, really.

SSDD sprang straight to mind after reading the thread title. Sadly I am now mostly stuck in the office pushing pens and training staff. When I was more involved with supporting adults with learning disability every day was different. M.O.O.N that spells unpredictable.

My job is taking care of my kids, and the gist of the quote that springs to mind when a crisis(big or small)has been averted or dealt with is "so thats all right then."

Hmm...that may not be it, exactly, I started noticing that phrase(or one very similar)start popping up in From A Buick 8, then in some subsequent SK works.

Anyone else recall this? Am I misquoting?

The Running (wo)Man. It's more of a Lewis Carrol quote actually: “Now, here, you see, it takes all the running you can do, to stay in the same place. If you want to get somewhere else, you must run at least twice as fast as that!”

Oops -I didn't see the word 'job' until now. My Dad would definitely been on the SSDD band wagon as EVERYDAY that I asked that man how his day was at work he said : "Same ole', same ole"- EVERYDAY!! Maddening!

But as a stay at home Mom I guess my original quote would still work as I am constantly looking for the monster under the bed that could harm my family- only this monster is disease, cancer, toxins and fear.
