I liked the story, but I gotta say the whole part with Dickís dad knowing Charlie Manx bugged me. It was clunky and forced into the story IMO, and how could the dad have known about Manx and still be alive? I did enjoy the other parts that referenced Joeís novel- Lake Winnananana or whatever it was called and I loved the bumper sticker on one of the Knotsí campers; that was awesome! I was also disappointed that the only other King story that was mentioned besides The Shining was the brief mention of Salemís Lot. I thought when Johnís nephew did all that research and Abraís parents were getting a copy that SOMETHING would have been mentioned about Carrie or Charlie Mc Gee (Firestarter), but nothing! Such a bummer. There was also a part toward the beginning that mentioned Danís brief encounter with the True Knot when he was younger and he was oblivious to them. Was there any more mention of that and I missed it? I donít think there was cause I was looking forward to reading about it and canít imagine I missed it. The Glock mistakes surprised me as well, since I thought Steve knew his guns, no big deal though. I was expecting more of the ghosts from the Overlook to be a part of things as well. After this laundry list of things I had problems with, it might sound like I didnít like the book, but I really did. King surprised me more than once with the twists he took, which surprised me. I didnít think heíd be able to trick me after all these years, but he did. Iíve gotta add that it is briefly mentioned early on that one of the True is black and I was convinced that it was going to be Dick, but nope. I know, Dick would never have crossed over to the dark side, but it would have been a hell of a surprise!
