Just finished and LOOOOOVED it! I loved how the twists worked and Abra was cracking me up with some lines. What was it? "Drink something with sugar. That's what I like!"
I'm about a third of the way through and loving it. I've already teared up once. What is it these days with SK? I've cried at points in his last three books!
My hometown, Hoboken, NJ, is mentioned early in the book.

I thought Doctor Sleep was like the best sequel ever written. I liked how SK took it in a different direction, not just a continuation of The Shining. The story seemed to have been well thought out.
I don't post often, but thought I'd throw in my agreement with this thread. I finished Doctor Sleep late last night. It kicked my butt too. Like many of you, The Shining has always been special to me. I was a little concerned about a sequel maybe cheapening that somehow. Should have known better. Great story. It took me back to CO, which is where I lived when the Shining first came out; not far from the Stanley Hotel.
I've been waiting to finish Joyland and Doctor Sleep so I can get started on one of the few Stephen King works I haven't read. Today I start the Dark Tower for the first time. Aren't you jealous?
