Days be gone, that's a good question. The scariest thing was in a locally (infamous) haunted location. It had to do with a Bigfoot. When I mentioned I taped a UFO years ago, it happened when I researched this place and went to check it out.
The whole situation sounds crazy and I sometimes get embarrassed talking about it, but what I'm about to say is true. x.X
Basically, I am probably the only ghost hunter that went huntin' for ghosts, encountered a UFO, went back to UFO hunt, then possibly encountered a Sasquatch. I have yet (in all my years) to see a ghost. >_>
It's just that this area, is known for mainly UFO activity, but also paranormal activity and Sasquatch sightings. I wasn't really interested in UFOs until that encounter.
Long story short:
I believe there are Sasquatch of some sort such as a Gigantopithecus, just never believed they were in this state so never looked. I try to go back to this area every year, (where I taped the UFO) and mostly from that point to sky watch. A couple years ago one night my camera battery was almost dead, so LOL was saving it in case a UFO came around.
Got bored after no activity (this is ten years after the UFO sighting), decided to act on the reports of Bigfoot I had read and threw rocks (pebbles from the gravel road basically) into a lonely, pitch black field. We were standing on an old one lane bridge in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere and never expected anything to happen. It did. Something big threw something so big and heavy back and hit the bridge railing so hard that it shook/vibrated the bridge! It landed less than a foot from where I stood. O.O
We were using provocation techniques and we got a response. Sasquatch are known to throw rocks to scare folks away. Didn't wanna go back across that bridge, I am already afraid of bridges, even small ones lol but had to because that was the way we came in. x.X
I would have to say though that is the scariest thing that ever happened and I would do it again in a heartbeat!
The most haunted place that I can afford to go lol is a local graveyard that although local, is known around the country for being haunted. This has caused an immense amount of vandalism which is sad. Civil war gravestones and earlier are (were) there, but because this place is well known via books and articles and the good ole' WWW the vandalism has gotten worse. It is also out in the middle of a desolate country setting. I made a deal with the township trustee to watch over it while I was there if I could ghost hunt any time. She agreed and have been doing it for over a year. My husband and I are the only ones allowed there at night.
It is a spooky place and I have gotten some good EVPs and much more. My husband says he saw a child's spirit. From his reaction I believe him. I am used to it plus I take my German Shepherd who is appropriately nick-named Scooby because he is a big scaredy cat there. I make him ghost hunt against his will. XD
I do go alone too without husband or dog. THAT is scary and I stay close to my car. >_>
When the sheriffs check in with me up there it's funny to watch them; their reactions, because a lot of them admit they get scared up there too. =P
Yup it can be exciting and a lot of waiting. The first piece of advice I give to people that want to do this, is to literally 'expect it when you least expect it' and to 'be careful what you go looking for, you just might find it'. This is so incredibly true.
One second you can be bored outta your skull, the next second your knees are knocking so hard you have to wonder if you will see the light of another day.
Hi...have you ever considered writing a story where the character is bipolar 1 manic/depressive and is Baker Acted to a psychiatric hospital acute lock-down ward, given a roommate who is also Baker Acted while on vacation for depression...spends 3 involuntary days there...no meds...just initial shot of Haldol/Atavan/Benadryl to calm down...won't relinquish cell phone...4 ex-military guys throw her up against the wall...nerve damage in fingers...shot doesn't do anything....tries calling 911...family members not allowed to visit....cold water for shower....meets others....Ghandi like character....Miami rapper type....Label her name wrong on file/belongings....nurses nice, then turn.....Doesn't see psychiatrist until 2nd day....tries to explain it's all a mistake...Vets in there for saying they're not afraid to die....strip searched...no underwire/thongs/etc. due to suicide possibilities...Patient killed other patient few months before and teenage patient's arm broken by psych aide....Congressmen contacted....Health Licensing Board contacted....written up for deficiencies...cited and given time-line to correct....patient sent over $1,000 bill....lawyers contacted...nerve damage must be long-lasting for case....When trying to have cell phone taken, put where only a woman could put and then urinated on restrainers....sounds crazy, doesn't it????
