The Internet has made it (very) much easier to offend and to be offended. Concerning the last few posts, I think I come in somewhere between you Lepp and Patrick. I don't believe that teaching your child the skill of being able to laugh at themselves and to take a bit of ribbing, is bordering on child abuse--not teaching them how to cope with this to some degree may well make life difficult at some stage.
I don't necessarily believe that it's always possible to see suicidal behaviour before losing a child though. As Lepp mentioned, things can be humming along and honestly? Some young folks can just be bloody good actors... and bam, they're gone.
No, loving, living with and knowing your bairns is not always enough to keep them from leaving you if that's where their minds decide to go.
