"Under the Dome" is not my favorite King novel, but I enjoyed the author's storytelling skills enough to have read it twice. The TV series, though, is an insult to King's novel. I am aware that the series would not completely follow the novel. That worried me at the time but I thought, OK, King's approved it, it will be OK. But very soon, things started to get derivative and pedestrian. The series jumped the shark with the addition, and eventual demise, of a sociopath businesswomen. "Big Jim" is not a calculating tyrant but an insecure bully who murders on a whim. Barbie is a leg-breaker?? I could go on and on. What's on TV is an insult to a good novel. I could understand this combination of drama/crime kitsch as a "Under the Dome" series only if there had previously been an adequate to good adaptation of the novel. It's sad King allowed this to occur.
