but I don't think he was charming enough to so wholly convert a class to his way of thinking. I get the idea that we all have this darkness inherent inside us but it just didn't ring true, the whole 'stokholm syndrome' thing.
My question is what happens to Ted Jones at the end. He is assaulted by his classmates to such an extent that he is comatose at the end. Are we supposed to read this as some kind of metaphor? Social constraint is rendered weak in the face of uninhibited humanm savagery. Or did he just the mother of all beatings. This is another part of the story I found a bit flat.
