True that OH can be hot in the summertime. But it's been pretty nice for most of this summer. And that is coming from YT, who tends to melt in the heat!
Personally, I don't care that much where it is...first, I'm more interested in hanging out with the ka-tet than I am in any activities we may choose. Second, there is perhaps a 50% chance that I'll get to go at all. The timing is more important to me than location.
I can't vote yet.... I'm not sure I can go, so I don't want to influence a decision that I won't be there to.... what's the word? Enjoy?
Anyhow I am torn. I'd love to do a Winter Kon in Florida, early 2015. That would probably work out best for me $ wise. Plus I need some Duma Key shells for my Stephen King bookcase... ( shrine ).
I am thinking Ohio would be a blast and I know we could do some really cool stuff there. I have every confidence that Scott could blow the socks off of a shin-dig there. I love that area and it would allow more people to attend, seeing as how so many members live around there, their travel expenses would be more manageable.
I do want to go back to Bangor though, and Pushaw would love to have us back. Planning would be pretty easy seeing as we already know what to expect.
I also had another suggestion, just to throw a minkey-wrench into the works.
This is for the people who are really wanting to see Stephen King in the flesh. I hate that I didn't work the Twain House thing into my plans this last time DRAT PAT! We could plan the event around one of his book tours. That would probably facilitate Our Lady of Moderation's attendance as a work related thing as well.
Even if he doesn't do a meet and greet, it would still be a blast, he's a brilliant speaker and it could be a highlighted event for the Konvicts who chose to go.
Thinking out loud.
PS I have no idea if he will be speaking anywhere next year. I looked around and I don't see any scheduled events. Just an idea.

...I will work with whatever venue comes out on top....I merely threw out Ohio, because as an "insider" I knew I could more readily facilitate a gathering...but those who poop on Ohio-that's OK...I'm not getting any kick-backs from the state Visitors & Convention Bureau...but, I do have one comment-and I mean NO disrespect to those who have said it-I understand Bangor is the locus of the King-verse, but limiting a gathering to just that region-repeatedly going there due to it being the Mecca of Steve, would do other areas and states a dis-service and really limit the scope of future gatherings...returning there is great, I fell in love with the area-but I don't feel it's necessary, maybe a revolving deal would work?....and I also know, it's easy for me to put Bangor on the back-burner coz I was already there...but seriously, do what you all want-I only offered to try to be a help to the Board family....
I think Shawshank would be awesome. I'm just in a pickle. I'd really like to see it in a place that allows the most people to attend. I think Ohio fits that bill, not only is it central to most people, it has a great King tie in.
As I said, I am reluctant to vote because I'm not sure if I can go. Pretty sure I could swing Ohio tho, especially with your generous offer of lodgings.
I voted Ohio in the Poll merely because it would be the most accessible for me, but I am also open to Maine (because I missed this year). Wherever it is, I would do my utmost to attend just to meet as many people as I can.
