Much todo about nothing in my opinion. It was not very professional of this worker to go public with this. As a chef, I do not like working places where only the server gets to keep a tip. It should be split with the cook who prepared the food and the dishwasher on duty as well. I have no problem if customers do not tip for a sit-down meal either. That is their choice. The food industry does not pay it workers enought. That does not mean it is up to the customers to pay their wages by leaving generous tips....it is up to the employeer. Thoughts about this?

It depends entirely on the pay scale. If the Chef and the busboy, dishwasher, and so on get REAL minimum wage or better while the wait staff get that idiotic "waiter wage," then NO... nobody else gets any of the tip. If everyone is getting REAL minimum wage or better, the tips get split. It is as simple as that.
*As to whether celebrities should be outed for tipping like that, well... anyone can be outed for it. Most of the time the business will fire the waiter/waitress who does it. The rule of thumb is to tip 15% if the service was adequate and better if deserved. If the service was bad, the tip scales down as low as the person wants to go. I somehow doubt a celebrity quarterback got bad service.

My husband gets so upset at me for not tipping at a buffet. My thought is, its a freaking buffet!!! I get my own food, serve my own drinks! Granted if there is a special section where a chef prepares special dishes for you on the spot, I will tip him/her. Another thing that annoys, when your tip is automatically added to the bill, and they still expect a tip on the table. Unless the waitress/waiter did an AMAZING job, that's all you're getting. IDK something about them forcing me to tip brings out the scrooge in me.
Otherwise, I am a generous tipper! I used to work 'for tips' and know how bad it feels when you do your best and get left with diddly squat.
