I'm gonna just throw out this question and I'm ready for people to slam me but, here goes.
I'm just wondering why celebrities and regular folks adopt children from other countries when we have so many children here in the US who need and want to be adopted?
There are a multitude of newborns, infants, babies, toddlers, etc who are born drug addicted, HIV positive, disabled, sick, even dying in the US. I'm sure that they would love to be adopted by well to do families and have a good, stable, loving family.
If you want to adopt a baby/child who are not the cream of the crop and do something to enrich their lives...why not adopt US children?
(BTW- I am NOT saying it's wrong to adopt babies/children from other countries. That's cool. But, why not adopt the US children who are in need and want and deserve a good home.)
Nope, as an adopted child, I agree with you. It is very hard for couples to get newborn babies here because so many couples want one. Why not adopt a toddler in a foster home? There are so many kids who are wards of the state. I worked with them.
my two cents...My brother and his wife just adopted a newborn right her in the good ole' U.S. of A. It was a difficult process for them. I'm not privy as to why...but if memory serves, I took over a year. Mayhap it's easier to adopt from overseas? I'm not sure.
I always wondered why no one seemed to want our kids. I also wondered why there are so many organizations for third world donations for homeless and hungry and we have so many homeless and starving children here that could use that money and love.
...no slamming here honey...it's a perfectly legitimate question...my feeling is, that the U.S. makes it such a long and drawn out process, that hopeful adoptive couples grow intimidated and impatient-so they turn elsewhere...and as far as celebs go...what better way to get your name in the news yet again, than because you adopted a child from another country...oh how noble!...

Re: I'm Just Wondering...
Infant outsourcing is some curious business, great question Sig, I sure hope somebody figures it out, soon.
I mean it sure looks like to me there's gonna be an increase in the flow of domestically manufactured babies available, some warehouses are gonna restock to capacity maybe.
Could be substantial is what I'm thinkin', well okay, in some states...perhaps better marketing with a big bump from certain groups what want much higher production is the partial answer, and I'm sure they'll all be soooo on it.
