I was 17 when I read my first Stephen King book: Carrie. I cried at the end. I felt like Carrie and I had so much in common. I was so moved by this that I've read Carrie once a year since then (I am now 28). I also thought to myself, "I want to do this for a living some day." And so I went off to college and dedicated myself to a BA in creative writing and then an MFA in creative writing (fiction). I've written lots, but nothing reaches out to me more than that book - I've cried nearly every time I read it. Now, I am pleased to say that I will get to see Mr. King read from Doctor Sleep in Boulder, CO. It will truly be an emotional and awe inspiring event for me. I will finally get to see my hero, the man who inspired me to become who I am today.
