Re: How Does Everyone Here Feel About "Camera Snoops" Like Google Earth?
And, in looking at that Dwight and his cousin Mose on the seesaw photograph, it begs the question: Can you make Google Earth reshoot an unflattering picture?
Let's say you're a business person and you own a restaurant. Let's say one of your patrons during the lunch hour was a person who worked for an exterminator and his (her) truck is parked right in front of your restaurant. He isn't exterminating anything in your business, he's eating lunch! Google Earth creeps down the street (they should have to play ice-cream-truck music by the way) and snaps the photo.
So, there that image is. Your restaurant with an extermination company truck front and center. Is that good advertisement for your business? What if you start losing business because of that photograph and people make statements saying that is the reason? Could you ask Google Earth to reshoot the picture? Or if they won't, could you sue them for lost earnings because of the photo?
A picture is worth a thousand words, a thousand misunderstandings and a thousand and one misrepresentations.
Somebody needs to start a "Bad Google Earth shots" thread over in Chattering Teeth. You know they're out there.
