I'm on my second read through of "11/22/63" and a question that already bugged me during the first time popped up again. So I'd like to ask you, my fellow message board posters, for your thoughts on this, please:
During the TV broadcast of the prizefight which Jake / George attends with Sadie at the Dallas Auditorium he spots Akiva Roth sitting in the front rows.
I think his name was first brought up by Freddy Quinlan, the real estate agent. But I wonder how Jake / George recognized Akiva Roth at the Dallas Auditorium? He never saw him before but only met his bookie, didn't he? Did I miss anything here?
...I'm not sure this will be of any help, because it has been a long minute since I read the novel...but with the info provided by Al, and certain mobster's notoriety anyway-that may be why he was recognized so easily by "George"....you have to remember, even today, big crime gets big media time-and it was no different back when...
