...then you obviously don't know the kind of bikers I do....truly salt of the earth and give anything they could to help someone in need...they're not all spawn of the Hell's Angels....you've just made a sweeping assumption based on a bad experience I'd guess...
I saw these two big, brawny macho looking bikers today in the parking lot and what I found ironic is that as one drove by I could hear his stereo or radio and guess what he was listening to - Abba! (Dancing Queen, I think,,,)
I think his point in On Writing was simply that TV is a great time-waster, and a distraction you don't need while writing. And, oh, do I understand the desire to blow the damned thing up. How can I have so many channels, and so frequently there is nothing but crap on???
I like his list of good TV - I'm still liking Dexter, though. And I do wish he hadn't mentioned that he likes Arya Stark...Now George RR Martin will probably find it necessary to kill her.
For those who are not fans of SOA: it is a great show, lots of good drama. And you'd be AMAZED at the extent to which it can suck you into that world. One of the things I love about the show is that you can get so invested in rooting for these guys who are, at the end of the day, a bunch of thugs. It's the same reason I dig Dexter, or Breaking Bad (well, at least until Walter became so totally psycho) - I like a good anti-hero.
...bunch of thugs.
Yes, thugs, but each is an interesting character, eh? That's why we keep watching it at our house.
