RIP. My first Slayer album was South of Heaven, and along with Seasons in the Abyss, it still is my favorite. I guess I've always liked their melodic stuff more. Hanneman and Kerry King had quite a unique way of "passing a solo", the lead starting by King and on the fly carried on by Hanneman, (or vice versa). That was really something.
Seasons in the Abyss was my first Slayer album. It was one of those that I knew I wanted from the moment I looked at the cover. I didn't particularly love the cover, but I wanted to experience Slayer and this one cover clicked the most with me. It's still my favorite of theirs (the album, not the cover). I think the solo trade off on the title song is by far among their best in that category.
