The closest I'll get to either wonderful sight is having read Irving Stone's The Agony and the Ecstacy. Did you see the Pieta in the chapel? Did they mention the chapel is were the cardinals hold their voting sessions? Can you imagine having to be locked up in such a place?

I am so glad you have so many wonderful memories.

We had intended to go through the Basilica again as the day we went it was extremely crowded and our intent that day was to see the Sistine Chapel so we did a quick (as quickly as possible in that kind of a crowd--I resisted the urge to moo as it felt like being in a cattle drive) tour around the perimeter thinking we'd have plenty of time later. Unfortunately we did not make it back so that was one I missed.

The movie based on the book is really good, too. "Will there be an end?", Rex Harrison keeps saying.

I remember that line. He played Pope Gregory, right?
