    Default Mick Garris

Given that Mr Garris has directed at least 7 of Stephen King's properties, is it in order to ask what people think of his work? Having seen maybe 4 or 5 of the pieces he has directed, I find them to be OK - no better, no worse. He is better than many, but not even close to the best. Journeyman stuff in my view.

    Seven exactly now.

I admire his determination to keep translating King to the screen, especially 'difficult' ones like 'The Stand' or the remake of 'The Shining', but the results get progressively worse. I think he peaked on 'The Stand' and it was interesting to see a different version of 'The Shining', but since then it's been mostly disappointing to me. I'd like to see him take a shot on more 'dark fantasy' novels, 'The Stand' clearly has more going for it than the other ones.

He's no auteur, but his strength is he lets the material speak for itself.
