Now don't get me wrong; I enjoyed the Twilight series but I would never consider them in the "classic" Vampire story genre. Stoker's is obviously the original, and 'Salem's Lot will always get my vote (also the first King book I ever read). How about Anne Rice's Interview With A Vampire? I lost interest in the series after awhile, but the first couple were very good.
Stoker's book is great stuff, solid stuff. Entertaining all the way through, blood-n-thunder goodies. Salem's Lot for sure. ol Crazy Anne's bloodsuckers? Hey, the first three or so Lestat books can't be beat (the rest, though..zzzzz). Twilight--tell ya what, I'd never read the silly thing, but I can't bring myself to knock any book that get's the younguns reading, no sir. Rather see teenagers readin then doing anything else, I spose.
Nobody gonna pop in with Skipp and Spector? The Light At The End? Pretty good.
