I just finished Needful Things and HOLY POOP-ENSTEIN. That ending was A BLAST! (LITERALLY!) Man oh man! Now I must admit that I did have my doubts about this book. I thought at one point "Oh this is so boring...when is something gonna happen...ughhh" But WHOA. When I was reading that last part of the book (everything must go) I then realized that this book was the perfect balance of atmosphere, deception, and horror. It was the perfect set up for an rollercoaster from Hell. (hint hint) This is one of those books that shows that patience really does pay off in the end. Last week it was Bryan Rusk taking his own life right in front of his brother's eyes. This week, the encore and witnessing of a small town (much like my own) choking the life out of each other over an illusive and false possession. I honestly do feel a little cheated seeing as the movie had a different ending than the book but hey. That just proves that the books are ALWAYS better. This book actually took me a few years to read seeing as I would pick it up and put it down but man. Who knew someone could write something so vile and scary yet so satisfying? I must say the prologue was the most terrifying part of the book. Answered prayers. Sent chills up my spine. Amazing. If anyone has never read this book or was like me doubting this novel of it's shock factor, let me say this. KEEP. READING. I promise. When it hits the fan, it doesn't stop there. It just keeps you bearing down, white knuckled and eyes bloodshot from hours of suspenseful reading until you reach the uneasy and terrifying ending. Very show Mr. King. (applause)
