I meant to also add that I to have never run a red light, never hit anybody, never been in any kind of accident of any kind, and I don't drive more than 5 MPH over the speed limit. I also pause and make sure nobody is blowing through the intersection before going through when my light turns green. It's not that hard to be aware of your surroundings and make sure nobody is speeding through before you hit the gas and go through the intersection.

Let me expand and say again that red light cameras don't make intersections more dangerous, bad drivers afraid of getting caught do. Again, if people drove safely they wouldn't need the cameras but people don't. And those people who don't deserve to get in an accident.

Again, statistical data shows that intersections have more accidents after red light cameras are installed. That's hard statistical data that can't be denied. No matter what the reason for the increase in accidents, the number of accidents go up when red light cameras are installed. Going through a yellow light is not a traffic violation, but the increase of accidents occur because people are afraid of getting a B.S. ticket by a red light camera and slam on the brakes for yellow lights. Retired police chiefs and politicians have admitted that the red light cameras have nothing to do with safety and everything to do with raising revenue. A better way to improve safety at intersections would be to increase the time that all directions are red before a new green light, but that doesn't raise money for the government. Putting a camera to take pictures of people going through red lights does, despite the fact that it makes intersections more dangerous for citizens.

I gave up because it wasn't going back and forth - it was going around in circles.

No hard feelings about our disagreement Shasta. You feel one way, I feel another, and that's just the way it is.

It was also derailing the thread, so I'll reply to the original topic and say that I'm all for police wearing body cameras, just as long as they don't try to tell me to shut off my camera while I film them.

I think the body cams are a great idea.
