When I was a kid, I used to sit on a large sofa in my library, and read tons of books.
It was very quiet and peaceful, and I have great memories of it.
I recently read Stephen King's 11/22/63, and I can honestly say that
there is no such thing as privacy anymore in this day and age.
Forget the library... cellphones going off every few minutes,
bums and winos walking back and forth in my field of visions,
people texting. Even kids running around throwing paper
Screw the library, so I went to the park... but no luck there.
Babies screaming, people talking, making noise.. can't concentrate.
Eventually, I ended up having to drive my car to
abandoned parking lots and reading there. But
even then, people would jog past my car, or
cars would drive by and people would eye
Why not read at home, you may ask?
I live with 6 other people, so...
Anyhow, sorry for the rant, I'm just finding out that
things aren't what they used to be.
