I talked my sister into reading Hans Christian Andersen stories to my nephew when he was four or five. For some reason, she always stopped reading on the last page and shot me a disgusted look. Dunno if he ever found out whether the frog got out of the well or what happened to the little match girl.

    Our inner child

This is a thread for anyone who wants to discuss any books they read as a kid. Some books I read as a child that are very dear to me would be the Harry Potter series.

I loved a Wrinkle in Time and the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe series. Also Winnie the Pooh.

Me too! Love it, credit it with the beginning of my love of the genre (in loose terms).

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I wore the library's copies out as a kid and now own a box set of all three. Best books ever.

Do you think my 12 year old will enjoy them? I'm looking for something that will entertain, and be eerie....but not scare her too badly.

.....I'll echo those comments on Wrinkle!...though the whole concept of the Tesseract made me head ache...

My guys all read them between 10-12 years old... but then again, they're all blood-thirsty-little-heathens!
