What is the deeper question Mr King is asking in his story, Christine?

With most books, I can work out the deeper questions being asked. But I'm having trouble with CHRISTINE. I have some ideas, but wanted to know if you (the moderator) could give me any insight.

As Ms. Mod is currently on vacation, I can't give you a definitive answer to this right now. I can however pass on the original 'Inspiration' for the story. (located in the Library Section of the site)

It reads: "One night as I was turning into my driveway, I saw the odometer numbers on my car turn from 9999.9 to 10,000. I found myself wondering if there might not be a story in an odometer that ran backward-the car, I thought, would get "younger" instead of older, finally collapsing into its component parts. The next day I started writing it. I thought it would be a funny short story-a kind of American Graffiti. Instead, a fairly long novel came out, a supernatural tale about girlfriends, boyfriends, and Christine."

On of his funniest most entertaining reads, he was on a rock & roll, at least I thought, pert near sprained me one perfectly good *SNRT!*'er with one perfectly deeeelicous, and quite fury-ously curvy, Christine.
