I thought the cover gave the impression of what the story was about (advertising); but with all good books, especially SK books, there will be many twist and turns, all is not what is seen in the beginning. Usually I will not pcik up the same book for a few years after I have read it, and although it has only been one year since I read 11 22 63, I will try to knock out the audible on this one sometime later this year. I heard the audible version was really good.

......you don't even get confirmation of a "spoiler" till near the end of a rather lengthy novel...so "ultimate"?...not even close....

JFK being saved is a hook, not a spoiler. The assassination wasn't really the point of the novel.

Agree. And as the old saying goes, "You can't judge a book by its cover."

I think a better cover would have just been a picture of the motorcade, with no headline....

Does anyone know if Stephen King approved of this cover, or does he not have control of that?

I don't have an answer to this right now sorry, as Ms. Mod is away on vacation until May 1st.
From my years of working in publishing, I would be amazed if an author like SK did not have absolute approval of a book cover.

Go ahead, judge Stephen King's '11/22'63' by its cover

    CAPTION
As compelling as the plot of Stephen King's 11/22/63 — about a man who travels back in time to try to stop JFK's assassination — is the story behind the book jacket.
The front is designed to look like a yellowed newspaper account with the headline "JFK Slain in Dallas, LBJ Takes Oath." The back displays an alternative newspaper account headlined: "JFK Escapes Assassination, First Lady Also OK!"
"The biggest challenge with the cover was that it was Stephen King's first historical fiction," says Scribner's art director Rex Bonomelli who has designed covers for five King novels including 2009's Under the Dome. The newspaper story concept, he says, makes the cover stand apart from King's genre fiction. Of note: King wrote the book jacket headlines. The novel enters USA TODAY's Best-Selling Books list at No. 2.
Enthralled by the book jackets and concepts? Stephen King talks to USA TODAY about 11/22/63.

I think it very clearly showed that the story could go either way.
