His dad going out for smokes and never coming back.
His mom working her butt off to support them.
Him finding the cache of pulps at his aunt's house.
Early writing efforts (newsletters and such).
Coming of age during Vietnam and changing his politics.
Meeting his sweetheart in college.
Her digging Carrie out of the trash and it getting published ...
Shortly before his mom died. (I hate that part)
Meanwhile, as he got more and more successful (good)
And hung onto his awesome wife and had three great kids (gooder)
He wrestled with booze and drugs.
But then, after an intervention from family and friends, he got clean.
And he wrote
And he wrote
And he wrote ... some of the best books that have been written in the past century
Then, in a freak accident, just when it was all going so well, everything was almost taken away.
Though none of the rest of the world came close to the agony his family must have been feeling right then, nonetheless, thousands of us had grown very fond of Uncle Steve over the past several decades, and so we were all relieved when it became clear he wasn't going to shuffle off this mortal coil right then. And though it was a hard, long, painful fight, and he probably felt like giving up more than once, he didn't.
He came back.
And now there are the children, some of whom are writers (damn good ones), and the grandchildren, and the snowbird life ... And as it turns out, after all this time, he still has something to say.
Now that's a hell of a story.

Todash, well spoken and spot on! Thankee.
At the end of the day, all creative people can be hard to live with as they spend a lot of time being creative and leave the laundry, etc because they spend a lot of time inside their heads. Not that Tabitha isn't creative, but she is also a mother and therefore more closely tied into the practical side of life. So, as good a read as it would be, I really wouldn't want to know a lot of stuff.
Tabby and the three kids could write this. It would be
excellent. The Motor cycle (solo) trips is something he could
write about himself .
One of the best stories he ever write was the time he
got A phone call about Carrie. It had sold. he was gonna make
$5000 dollars or something. He collapsed on the kitchen floor .
I know I must be silly...but I started reading this thread because I thought it was going to be about Tabitha salon takeovers LOL
