Default A new day. No more bad dreams. Let's start fresh.

I know that I am a sad person. I know my posts show that and the only reason why they are is because I am simply seeking advice for my problems. But I think that I am upsetting some people, so I don't think I will be posting anymore about my problems anymore. Instead I am going to go seek help for myself and not have to use others as a crutch. I love you all and I appreciate everyone's advice and love. I am going to go to the doctor soon to see if there is a medicine for anxiety seeing as I am already on anti depressants. Also, I am going to start reading a book you all might know. It is called the purpose driven life. I hope that I might find my way back to understanding my lord and savior. Again, I appreciate everyone here for taking the time to listen to me and hope you all will have a great day. Thanks.

I am very happy to hear you say this, Dave. It gives me a good feeling knowing you are making positive changes in your life. You will always have support here at the MB, but knowing you're seeking help from professionals close to you gives me confidence that you're going to be feeling better soon.
    Good for you, man!

Ah, YES. Everyone has problems, and there's no need to not post about them, but the frustrating part for all of us is that we know we cannot help you. It's very distressing to know that you are in crisis and that there is literally NOTHING any of us can do to truly help you, especially for those of us who have close relationships with depressed people and understand how dangerous depression can be.

And by the way, just so you know, antidepressants function differently from other drugs. In general, each one works for about half the people who try it. So just because you're on one doesn't mean you're on the right one. They can take several weeks to kick in, but if you've been on one for a month or so and are not experiencing relief, it's probably time to talk to your doctor about switching to a different one.

I also strongly, strongly recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/Undoing-Depres...dp/0316043419/. And because religion is so important to you, you might find this one helpful as well: http://www.amazon.com/Power-Positive...dp/4871876292/ (it's very prayer-focused).

I'm SO GLAD you're getting help.

There are a lot of good anti-anxiety medications, it's just a matter of finding the right one. Even with anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds, those usually aren't enough on their own. The point of medications is to bring you to a level state where you can work on your problems. Getting the rights medicines can take time and trying different things, but the really important thing is that you learn to deal with the behaviors and challenges that are causing the problems. From the stuff you've posted, I think talking with a therapist is important. A professional who can help you sort these things out.

Like with the medicine, don't expect a book to be a magic cure, either. I haven't read that book myself, so I'm not sure what it's like. It could be a good book (I've heard people talk about it). But changing your thinking habits and behaviors is something that's up to you, not a book, not a message board, and not a pill. What I mean is, I hope you get something out of this, and I'm glad to see you making some efforts, just don't get discouraged. Change and healing take time.

Good for you, Dave. Talking to a professional about your depression an anxiety is the best thing you could possibly do for yourself. Don't be absent too much from the Board. Keep in touch and let us know your progress. As someone already said, it is frustrating for us because we're not professionals and we can't diagnose these things but only suggest that you get an appointment with someone who can help. I am wishing you the best outcome because you deserve it, child. Take care. We love you.

I just want to say something but please do not take it as an advice but rather joining in conversation. Everyone is sad from time to time. It is kind of a never ending story as life goes on, we get happy, we get sad, we get frustrated and we get excited etc.
More pills for confusion or being unsure of what's wrong or right will not help in my opinion. 'Talking it over' helps and growing spine is the key. We all have a little spine which grows and straighten us up as we grow up, and it takes time.

Understanding Lord and Saviour?... most of people who were forced into christianity were pagans. I was born into christianity and fear was seeded deeply into my brain. I am not attending church anymore but I still believe in higher power which we all are part of..

When I'm getting sad I do say happy happy happy all over in my mind.
What do you think about meditation? you all? is youtube a good place to find some guided meditations?

The book I posted earlier was written by a therapist who suffers from major depression himself. He says, rather convincingly (based on his own practice and tons of research), that daily meditation can do more than just about anything else to relieve depression, especially in conjunction with medication and therapy and other practices as needed.

The way he describes it is actually really simple. Ooh, okay, I just checked out his website, and it's described there. Which is awesome. Because I totally did not want to type that all in.

Many, many BIG hugs, Dave. You are on my prayer list.
